If David Letterman had a talk show in 1969 and had invited John Holdren on as a guest, it would have led Letterman to say his son might grow up never seeing nice summertime temperatures.

Good one, Tony. I was there. I was attending Santa Barbara Community College and Dr. Paul Erlich and another famous quack came through for the very first Earth Day and spoke at the college. My biology professor fell into line and made Erlich’s books required reading for the course. And it was all bullshit.

I watched Soylent Green recently. The film is set in 2022, which was 50 years after filming. New York City has 40 million people and it is 90 degrees at night. Edward G Robinson got so disgusted with the film that he opted to be euthanized by Dick Van Patten. He was euthanized yearning for the way the world was as a boy, when beef was readily available and jam cost significantly less than $150 for a small jar. At least we are left with the memorable “Soylent Green is people” line that brings the cinematic interlude to an end.

What is rational about the following? Ehrlich et al. wanted to poison & sterilize people to save humanity from death via famine & pestilence. Isn’t that in reality mann thwarting Gaia?
