New York is named after the Duke of York who ultimately facilitated the English slave trade by capture of forts in North Africa. So, the New York Times should be defunded and burned to the ground.

  2. Jimmy Haigh says:

I don’t know if they are blind or just plain stupid.

  3. G W Smith says:

I have a very wealthy childhood friend who is a flaming democrat, and who calls Trump “the devil incarnate.” But when I ask him to expound he never tells me why or how, only that he is. I remind him that in 1989 he was a big Trump fan, then he changes the subject. Progressives tend to see the world not as it is, but as they want it to be.

  4. Susan says:

Just the opposite curve from the current murder rates in the big Demonrat controlled cities. Chiraq could set a new record at its current rate.

  5. Erika says:

    Thank you Tony..

the reason we have to “live with it” is because they are going to keep this sham going right into the election, and if Trump wins the election again, they will keep this lockdown going for another four years. You know they will. They can come up with virus after virus and continually shut down the country,.

I WAS a registered Democrat, as was my husband.(In fact he has actually helped in their campaigns in the past)
I NEVER thought i would support Trump. (even though i hated Hillary and voted 3rd party), like most Americans i tend to be Libertarian.
After over three years of constant ridicule from press, when they called Trump a “racist” for closing off the traffic with China..that was the last straw. As i watched them tell us there was NOTHING to worry about, the virus was NOT dangerous..and then they reversed spin telling everyone how deadly it was, wear masks don’t wear masks – constant lying and can PLAINLY see what is going on, and it is truly mind boggling.
This “summer of love” here in Seattle- unbelievable- these “peaceful protestors”set up A WALL to prevent people from going in and out, along with a Warlord with an assault rifle, shake down the residents held hostage for food and money-as the Mayor and Governor do NOTHING to stop lawless thugs from violating the inalienable rights of the citizens of this “Sanctuary City”…then the killings started.
Two teenagers joy riding approached the barracade and over 300 bullets flew into their stolen SUV..on the Audio you can hear the CHOP “guard” approach the vehicle and say something to the effect..oh you are still alive are you? then BOOM he executed the kid.
I am pretty certain that someone out there has a video of the incident.

Can you feel the “love” yet?
And they have the audacity to call president Trump a narcissist and despotic?
They need to go look in the mirror because their behavior is exactly what people would label as narcissistic and despotic- willing to destroy the entire nation to get their way.

    • Scissor says:

      Powerful message!

I never heard the story of the CHOP guard executing the teenager. So senseless, like protesting on the interstate in the middle of the night.

    • Old Grumpus says:

Tony’s readers in the UK sympathise.
We have had many nail biting elections in the last few years.
Keep up your spirits and try to lead as many as you can back to the world of sane and rational discourse!

    • Disillusioned says:

Former Democrat here (24 years). My disillusionment began in the first year of the Obama presidency. Yes, I voted for him in 2008. His EPA CO2 Endangerment Finding was one of several wake up calls – what plants breathe and need for photosynthesis – his Administration designated to be dangerous.

So, Obama received my vote only once. But, there wasn’t much choice in that election, nor the next – 2008 and 2014 gave us globalist shills on both sides of the political aisle (which is usually the case). Although flawed, I believe the Republican party is the lesser of two evils.

I too am libertarian. But there is no viable party, and the last Libertarian Party candidate was a nut case.

Thank God for Donald Trump. He was the only choice.

And thank you for your post.

These people are shameless, gutless, spineless, feckless scum.

  7. ClimateYogi says:

Here’s another chart from the CDC

  8. MeMyselfAndI says:

We can play their game. Projected deaths in the US: 2.2 million. Deaths to date in the US: 2 million.Thank you, President Trump.

    • MeMyselfAndI says:

My comment didn’t print correctly because everything between the less than and greater than signs was removed. Here is what I wrote:

We can play their game. Projected deaths in the US: 2.2 million. Deaths to date in the US: less than 200,000. Lives saved: greater than 2 million. Thank you, President Trump.

  9. Mark Luhman says:

When through my “local” paper today, all it was about was COVID, not one thing about the fourth of July. What a waste of paper.

  10. Steve Case says:

Covid 19 has become or maybe always was a political tool used to destroy capitalism from from within. Climate Change, Black Lives Matter and Covid 19 have all morphed into politics of the extreme left if they ever weren’t political from the start.

  11. Mike says:

Usually, Trump’s message is OK, and only his messaging sucks. This time, the message sucks. What happened? Still the lesser of evils, but damn!

  12. Robert Bourke says:

The darlings can’t understand that the number of reported cases is meaningless and merely reflects the amount of testing going on.

The only meaningful statistics are hospitalisations, ICU admissions, and deaths per million population.

Currently the USA has about 400 deaths per million population which puts it behind most of Europe. Australia doesn’t even rate a mention with 4 deaths per million.

  13. spren says:

Tony, the hysteria being repeatedly spewed by all of the media about the surge in numbers of new cases is driving me crazy. They never bother providing important information such as the changes in methodology being used to claim the new number (presumptive positives without a test, antibody tests showing someone may of had it in the past but counted as new cases, and contract tracing where anyone deemed to be in contact with an infected person is also now counted as a new positive). They also stress increases in hospitalizations despite most of these are people who have delayed elective procedures and are now permitted to be treated and have nothing to do with Covid-19. Most importantly, as you are reporting, they focus on new cases and not on the actual death rate which is plummeting. They need to quash the economic rebound and prolong lockdowns. Totally immoral and disgusting.

    • spren says:

Darn it Tony. I’ve been posting here for years and have donated to you several times, and yet, if I don’t post a comment for a couple of weeks I always go into moderation. Can’t you have me white-listed?

      • Disillusioned says:

FWIW, the posting delay occurs with all of us. It appears he updates this site one or two times a day. When he does, there’s a flood of new messages. Perhaps it is for moderation. But I don’t think it’s anything personal; he may be filtering out sabotage in this fashion, because he cannot moderate the site all day long.

So, we see these stops and starts in the flow of new posts. At first it was a little unnerving. But regulars here have gotten used to it.

  14. TRM says:

The data from the CDC for weeks 1 to 22 in 2020: West Virginia is missing week 22 and North Carolina is missing weeks 20, 21 & 22. Data downloaded 2020-06-29.

For 2020 the USA has a year to date “excess death” rate about 10.1% (124,419) higher than the previous 4 year average for weeks 1 to 22. As a comparison the 2018 influenza season peaked at just over 7%. Suicides up? Accidents down? Does it balance? We won’t know for 2-3 years. The CDC only lists “causes of death” for 2012-17 and has 2018 in “preliminary” status.

I’ve added a “Monthly” folder with all the data for each month. You can view the rise and fall of excess deaths for the country as a whole or on a state by state basis. This should help see the effects of re-opening.

For the entire USA: January -0.3; February 0.7; March 4.6; April 33.3; May 11.6

So April was the worst month. The June data is missing way too much to be of use.

The script and all related files are here if you want to kick the tires:

  15. Robert Gipson says:

Stick a fork in this video. Taiwan has 24 million people stacked together like sardines, only seven (7) COVID deaths. See why:

    • Scissor says:

Sounds too good to be true. It should be pursued but already seems like CDC and NIH are against it.

      • Ross says:

The Taiwanese data is real. They were smart enough to learn from the SARS outbreak and started planning for the next one, way back then.
When Cobid arrived they simply implemented the plan and it worked without locking down their economy.

  16. Robert Gipson says:

Ignored by MSM: Sweden and Germany say herd immunity is already here.

  17. rah says:

So far we have seen the left:
    1. Get TV programs they believe offensive cancelled.
    2. Censor posts and videos on social media that they claim are offensive but only point out facts or opinions they don’t want broadcast.
    3. Tear down or desecrate monuments and statues.
    4. Try to force sports teams to change their names
    5. Refuse to publish scholarly works in their “Science Journals” which present research which does not support their claims about “climate change:,
    6. Blatantly revise history.

Next they are coming after books. Siege Heil!

Perspective: While offensive TV shows get pulled, problematic books are still inspiring debate and conversation

  18. OldCynic says:

I subscribed to “Real Climate Science” for comment and facts concerning climate change.
I get right-wing political comment from Breitbart, so I don’t need it from this site.
    I’m unsubscribing today.
I’ll take another look at after the election, and see if you have refocused.

    • Al Shelton says:

Your comment proves that you are an “Old Cynic”
Tony’s site is totally straight forward and honest.
Breitbart is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

  19. Ross says:

This video is worth the time to watch. The guy looks hard at the actual data, not the headlines. He pays particular attention to the effectivenes or not of lock downs.
