Decline Of Hot Days In Indiana

Indiana University has had 154 days over 100F since 1895. All but twenty of those days occurred more than fifty years ago. There have been no 100 degree days at Bloomington over the past decade, but during the 1930s they had 61 days over 100F.

It’s Indiana University. I went to IU for two years. Even back then, in 76 it was a liberal chess pool and in fact had a part in convincing me that I needed to be somewhere else. The smell of pot was prevalent around the Ernie Pile school of journalism.

With a daughter living just north of Bloomington by Monroe State Forest, I can report
that it is has a lovely climate these days. Very quiet in town when IU is not in session.
