The Backup Scam

“The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness. As one participant put it, “poor methods get results”

Sorry to have to comment that I don’t receive email notifications any more Tony since the last one in 25/07/22 ” The BBC wants to Talk”etc
Was it something I did, or said?
Why have I been cast out into the outer darkness beyond the pale?

Forty years ago, the average junior-high student would have recognised ‘ocean acidification’ as nonsense, but thanks to the dumbing-down of educational standards since then, the scam is believed by the majority of the population.

    • We award degrees in nonsense like gender studies and equate them to degrees in mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering. More people graduate, so politicians can claim increasing standards, but few are actually educated. Many come out of university stupider than when they went in.

University of Washington atmospheric science professor Cliff Mass has been on the trail of the “equally evil twin” scaremongers for a long time. Linked below is a blog post of his from 2014, but there are others from 2013 that take on The Seattle Times and their award winning special report, “Sea Change – the Pacific’s Perilous Turn.” As usual, instead of answering the questions posed by Dr. Mass (an expert on atmospheric CO2) the report’s authors and the Times just ignored him. As in blacklisted; no further interviews or inquiries from his hometown newspaper.
