“mass extinction, ecosystem collapse and dramatic sea level rises”

“NASA Climate Scientist Says “We’re Toast”

Exactly 20 years after warning America about global warming, a top NASA scientist said the situation has gotten so bad that the world’s only hope is drastic action.

James Hansen told Congress on Monday that the world has long passed the “dangerous level” for greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and needs to get back to 1988 levels. He said Earth’s atmosphere can only stay this loaded with man-made carbon dioxide for a couple more decades without changes such as mass extinction, ecosystem collapse and dramatic sea level rises.”

  1. Gamecock says:

“If we don’t eliminate freedom, we will get mass extinction, ecosystem collapse and dramatic sea level rises. Only communism can save us!”

  2. rah says:

And the West Side Highway is STILL dry and well above sea level.

He has a PhD in physics yet seems to not understand thermodynamics. What about a planet (Venus ), with a surface pressure of 92 bar, being hot is hard to understand? He also seems to not have studied our geohistory, wherein he would have found that our planet and life on it did just fine with 7000 ppm CO2. That’s 17.5 x our current level. His radiative model may describe the interchange of energy in the atmosphere, yet he could be completely wrong about its impact on the planet. Or he could be wrong in every aspect of it.

  4. Francis Barnett says:

It’s not a case of mass extinction – it’s mass hysteria caused by climate grifters looking for their next free handout.

    • Gamecock says:

. . . and cultural Marxists seizing it for use as a tool to eliminate freedom.

It stopped being about weather a long time ago.

      • Disillusioned says:

From statements some of the elite have made over the decades, it was never about the weather – but always one of their several scapegoats.

  5. oeman50 says:

Well, he can “jam” this prediction where the sun don’t shine, to go along with his “toast.”

  6. Bob G says:

so A Greener planet will cause mass extinction? Mr Hansen sure has Hutzspa.
