I’ve been going to the beach in La Jolla, California for more than half a century. The beach there hasn’t changed a bit. The animation above shows how little change has occurred since 1871.

First time I went there, Rachel Welch was the high school homecoming queen. The image below is an optical illusion. If you stare at it long enough, you might see a beach.
Beach? What beach? :-))
Amazing what you can catch with a good net.
Oh, and the shoreline looks emergent. Either that, or the ocean level fell.
The fault lines in the area are strike slip (horizontal) faults, and there haven’t been any large quakes for a long time. The only big one was the Tijuana quake earlier in the year, but that was 50 miles away.
Or it could just be a different tidal level….doh!
Or it could just be that sea levels have barely changed over the last 140 years. Which we all know is true.
There appears to be an unsustainable level of consumin’ and breedin’ going on. Plus there appears to be some Creationists frolicking in the waves, too. Obviously we wi-JesusMaryandJoseph! Raquel Welch is smokin’ hot! Where was I? Oh yeah, Joe Romm sucks!
If anything the area is greener. Used to live in Coos Bay, OR. had an acquaintance who lived in Malibu for years, always talking about how “Pristine” CB was . Trees greenery,
and all that. Had an old-timer friend correct her. He had pictures like: CB 1890 green
CB 1919(Post WW1 ) cut to the last stick in most areas. 1930- Reproduction going.
1945 -some cutting again-still youngish reprod, 1960-to the last stick, etc..etc…
I saw Raquel the other night on TV still looking like a sailors dream. She mentioned in passing that she is now seventy years old.
She puts a different spin on “growing old”.
