“Climate Expert” Means Pulling Statistics Out Of Where The Sun Never Shines

A climate change specialist says climate change is happening faster than many scientists predicted and it is more than 90 per cent likely to be caused by human activity.

Victoria University’s director of climate change in its School of Government, Martin Manning, spoke to about 80 people at a recent seminar on “Carbon – the science and the sense” at Massey University.

It is more than 90% likely that people who make statements like that can’t back them up with any actual data.

  1. Dave N says:

Given that the title of the seminar is inherently wrong, it isn’t science, nor sense.

  2. NikFromNYC says:

Bradley Manning, Martin Manning, Michael E. Mann and Michael L. Mann: treason runs in the family.

  3. Scarlet Pumpernickel says:

You can correlate anything to the temperature, the price of fish increasing causing the rise in temperature. Why is increasing CO2 proved to correlate with the faked up temperature increase?

  4. It’s more than 90% likely that the “about 80 people” already knew what he was going to say, and I dare say no up-to-date temperature chart was produced to “prove” it.

He’s a “director of climate change” – in what sense is he “directing” it? He should let the rest of the frying world know his secrets.

“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of credibility at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t” – apologies to Phil “”What FOI?” Jones for this mis-quote.

    • Grumpy Grampy ;) says:

Kevin “Travesty” Trenberth said that. It is Phil “delete” Jones! Or even Phil “Trick” Jones!

      • You’re right of course, it wasn’t Phil “dog ate my data ” Jones but Kevin “AGW causes everything including cooling” Trenberth. I SHOULD know, I’ve read most of the emails (perhaps it’s rotted my brain?).

“Climate change does mean some extreme cold in some places, such as Siberia. We have seen wild fires in Russia, floods in China and Pakistan and scientists attribute all those changes to anthropogenic climate change.”

Climate change means anything that will keep the government grants coming.

  6. Andy WeissDC says:

Since when does being a School of Government professor qualify one to pontificate about climate? Has this guy ever taken courses in climate? Come to think of it, even if he has, it would just be indoctrination. He is going to spew the same regurgitated pablum one way or another.

I Googled “steve goddard climate” at 14:00 BST (ie, well after your “97% of climate scientists can’t answer this” article), and got this result:-

So, your article title ““Climate Expert” Means Pulling Statistics Out Of Where The Sun Never Shines” has (apparently) disappeared, and because
of your choice of words at the start of that article, you can appear – prima facie – to be a warmist.

The first line of the more recent “97% of climate scientists can’t answer this” article being “During the 1930s, as much as 80% of the US suffered severe to extreme drought. What caused this?” is much harder to misrepresent.

    Isn’t that interesting?

    • Sleepalot says:

Ooooh, also, the missing article headline would’ve been the link to the article!

      • Sleepalot says:

Also, the second result is a “Desmog” article from 2008 – because it has your name for the title. I suggest you make an article with the title
“Steve Goddard – climate change”, and an appropriate first line, so you can have a bit more influence on your internet presence.

Gee, no temperature change in 13 years….
    …and that makes it faster
