The papers are in full force today saying that migraines incapacitate her for several days every week. (That would put her ahead of Obama, who is emotionally incapacitated every day of every week.)
Seeing as how a presidential campaign is 24×7 for the next 16 months, we will probably notice if she is gone several days a week.
Another claim is that she said “we are in the last days.” She must have been listening to media heroes Al Gore or James Hansen, who say that same thing every day.
They are more intense in their efforts to destroy her than they were of Palin. I think it’s because she has more substance than Palin. It is real that she could become President.
Wouldn’t it suck if Romney became President?
Amino,
Well I have to agree that Bachman has a bit more substance than Palin.
I will leave it at that, as nothing more needs to be said.
Is Manhattan still above water?
It would have been if the sea floor had not sunk to neutralize it. Give Tony some time and he will work that in too, to prvide his mythical contexts to conversations he was not part of.
Not a “bit more” Tony. It is quite a bit more. I know many don’t see much in her. But it is impressive that back when Al Gore’s movie was in theatres she said climate change is natural. she was the only one I know of that was saying that publicly, out in the open. She faced the flack about it. She has always been against Obamacare. She has always been against Cap N trade. She has never backed down from saying she is a Christian. She sticks with the simple things that most people know but don’t talk about publicly. She may not become President because the swing vote in the middle of politics always control the vote.
But maybe other people besides me, people that don’t like her, or I should say hate her, do see a lot in her and that’s why they’ve suddenly come out of the woodwork and are doing everything they can to destroy her. They must really be afraid of her. They must see real substance in her.
Amino,
it sounds like you actually want a serious conversation about this. I actually agree that she is probably a competent intelligent woman that is more principled than Palin. I also agree that the left is and will exaggerate anything she says in order to put it in the worst possible light. I do not see that she has accomplished much as a 3 term congressperson. I also think she is an ideologue with regard to both evolution and climate change. in neither case is she interested in the truth, just in supporting her “side”. I have serious differences with her about a host of issues, but many of her positions that I disagree with, I think she has valid reasons for. I think it quite possible that she would be a much better president than Bush was. Something I can’t imagine that I could say about Palin.
There’s not enough politicians in Washington like her for her to accomplish anything. Think about it—she has only 1 vote.
It might be you that is the ideologue and not her.
Ah steve,
you give me another opportunity top point out your favorite lie.
No manhattan is not underwater, and Hansen, (who you must be referring to) never said it would be underwater by 2008, as you have credited him with saying for close to a year most likely.
Steve seems obsessed with having me point out his most obvious lie on his blog almost whenever I comment. Since he is unable to admit making a mistake, it seems he forces himself to confront it over and over again, in the hopes that it will just go away, or maybe he is hoping that some one will find away for him to extricate himself form this debacle without losing face,
I understand that i have backed him into a corner and the idea of admitting that someone like me, who is clearly not as intelligent , and has also sorts of other unmanly attributes has pointed out to all these thousands of blog readers that his obsession with hansen’s manhattanquaote was completely wrong is too big an insult to his ego. I can imagine how i would feel if I lost a juggling competition to Steve ( I am a professional juggler). it must also REALLY irk him that former allies like Anthony Watt so easily accepted the truth and then went on with their Hansen bashing, with only the slightest hiccup.
So i send out this plea to Steve’s friends. STOP enabling his fantasy!. Do the right thing and have a Hansen 2008 intervention. he will kick and scream for a few days, and the withdrawal symptoms (or exorcism, at this point I am not sure which) may be powerful and disturbing, but he will come out of it a better man, and one more fully able to attack the evil climate commie scientists that are hell bent on destroying the american way of life.
the content here, for those newbies that are unaware. A reporter interviewed Hansen in 1988. he wrote a book about climate change in 2001. in the book he quotes Hansen as saying that the west side highway would be underwater in 40 years if there was a doubling of CO2 by then. It is right there in black and White. I have read the book and personally reprinted the exact quote on Steve’s blog. THEN, AFTERWARDS, in 2001, months after the book was published, the reporter gave a phone interview with a reporter from Salon magazine. in THAT interview he says he talked to Hansen in 89 or 89 (unsure of the date) and says Hansen said West side highway would be underwater in 20 years (specific date frame). LATER in the article when asked about WHEN Hansen was talking about, the reporter said 20 OR 30 years (QUITE a big range there. Not 20 or 21 years or even 20 or 25 years). now the article is CLEARLY a promotion for the book. the book is listed in the header with a nice big graphic on the cover. The book is referenced in the second paragraph. Just after the third paragraph it gives the publication info for the book, and farther below THAT is a link to BUY the book. the quote and the interview are all REFERENCES to the book. Riess has publicly said that the article quote was wrong. Hansen has publicly said that the article quote was wrong. there is no indication that Hansen has ever said or written anything that fits with the Salon article. The Salon article is a misquote. Any other possibility is a fantasy.
It is sad that no-one cares enough about this man to help him get over this obsession.
Sorry amidst a bunch of other typos I wrote
“he says he talked to Hansen in 89 or 89 (unsure of the date)”
that should read ’88 or ’89.
I have copied this text and made the corrections to the typos, since I have to keep writing out the entire actual sequence of events, and while fun, it is a tad time consuming.
Ah, so Reiss just lied and Hansen never said that Manhattan would drown. And then Reiss lied again later when he confirmed that Hansen said Manhattan would drown.
You should sue Reiss for such blatant fraud.
PURPLISH MAROON
See folks,
this is typical of Steve responses. he takes an attacking tone and then writes something as if it is relevant. in this case, which is extremely rare in these constant back and forths we have, he makes an assertion, as if he is just reading my explanation of the facts for the first time, when in fact I have done so dozens of times and we both know them by heart.
But lets look at Steve’s response and analyze it.
I very clearly above explained how it can only be a fantasy to believe Hansen made the quote that manhattan would be underwater by 2008.
STEVE replies
Now it is interesting that he starts out his response with the phrase “ah, so Reiss just lied, and Hansen never said Manhattan would drown”. This is interesting because i have stated repeatedly that this is one of only two plausible possibilities, Either Reiss made a mistake, or he lied in order to sensationalize the issue and sell more books. of course there is probably no way to know the answer to this for sure. But, i have not seen anything about Reiss where others have accused him of lying. I only presented it as a logical possibility, Yet Steve latches onto this as if it is some sort of GOTCHA. But, this may be some sort of progress, he has never commented on this possibility before as I recall (of course this has gone on so many times i may have forgotten).
Of course Steve always uses the “Manhattan would drown” exaggeration. Hansen was talking to the reporter in a casual conversation and he said the west side highway would be underwater. Now this is in itself not a scientific statement. He said dutch engineers would be working on it, so he might have meant storm surge or periodic flooding or he might have meant seriously underwater. But as I pointed out to Steve before i knew it was a misquote, these kind of statements are meaningless. What is important is what the guy says in peer reviewed documents and in public statements where he knows his words are going to be specifically reported, like a press conference or a special event or congressional testimony.
and then of course steve says “Hansen never said Manhattan would drown” when he clearly DID say in the book and the article that the West Side Highway ( or by then maybe the Hansen canal?) would be underwater. Why make the negative that nobody contends Hansen DiDN’T say. it has been widely reported by the right wing press over and over again for over a year, nearly two, and that part of the quote has never been disputed. it is an attacking approach I have often seen used to fluster and anger the person one is arguing with. Steve doesn’t seem to notice that that rarely happens with me, but it is probably an ingrained response. Another indication of the need for intervention.
And then we get to an issue that he keeps returning to as if it somehow invalidates my entire argument. “Reiss LIED again, when he confirmed that Hansen said Manhattan would drown.” this is from the article as well. the exact quote is “Does he still believe these things?
Yes, he still believes everything. I talked to him a few months ago and he said he WOULDN’T CHANGE ANYTHING THAT HE SAID THEN.” (my caps). So Steve is making it sound like Hansen CONFIRMED that he had said this would happen in 2008 years, when what he ACTUALLY said was that he was confirming what he had said that was printed in the book, that was from Reiss’ notes form the actual talk that they had in 1988. All this does is confirm that in 2001 he was still standing by his statement about the west side highway under water within 4o years with a doubling of CO2 by then.
Since this was a phone conversation it is unlikely that Hansen was in the room when Reiss was being interviewed and therefore Hansen did not hear Reiss misquote him. it is a totally meaningless argument, yet Steve presents it as some sort of vindication.
Finally Steve says ” You should sue Reiss for such blatant fraud.” Of ocurse it is possible that Reiss lied and therefore was engaged in fraud. There is no way to prove this one way or another. But in any case it is not blatant, Reiss made a rather too large exaggeration of what Hansen actually did say. And it seems most likely that it was just a mistake, that he had not remembered accurately. Even in the article he clearly changes his mind going form saying 20 years to 20-30 years int he space of a couple of paragraphs. it is of course an unfortunate mistake because the entire right wing anti climate change blogworld held this up as proof of Hansen’s promulgation of something that was patently absurd.. that it was a prediction that whose time had come and it was horrendously wrong.
Again i understand how hard it must be for Steve to let go of the perfect example of the insanity of CO2 driven climate change. But if he is not stopped here, who KNOWS what other crazy ideas he will refuse to let go of. Next thing you know he will start saying that climate scientists have predicted a 9 meter seal level rise from pre industrial times to the present.
I like Michele. I really do. Unfortunately, a lot of people are “scared” by her.
True, a lot of the “scary” stuff is just Dumbocrat revision of what she actually says. But not 100% of it
As things continue to get worse in the American economy she may look better and better to the swing voters in the middle since she has always been for spending cuts and tax cuts. But who can know what the fickle swing voter will do. I do know America is not headed for a good place at all. The same economic minds that said the housing crash was coming before it happened, that is, Jim Rogers, Marc Faber, and Peter Schiff, are now saying a terrible economic crash is coming to America. Two of them, Faber and Schiff, are saying it’s going to be worse than 1929. Jim Rogers says it’s only a matter of time before the American Dollar is defunct and a new currency will have to be created in its place.
If you never had faith in God before now is the time to get it.
I see a scenario for the end of the US Dollar, and that is, if world oil is valued in something else like Euro. That could happen if greenie CO2 allergies push refining out of the US.
Somebody needs to get their arms around greenie industrial demolition and promises that solar panels and wind mills are going to make the US “wealthy.”
I have faith that the American people won’t allow demolition of the country because of greenie bullying and threats.

Who cares if a bunch of girly men wearing panties in DC are scared of her. These ‘men’ are scared of anything that is politically incorrect. They are festering boils on the ass of America. Bachmann needs to ratchet up the rhetoric and stop playing nice (as do all the Pro-American politicians).
Here is how a real man stands up and speaks when he is slighted. Let me tell you, he should be in that damn White House, not Dumbo.
It’s On!… Rep. Allen West Confronts Lying “Vile & Despicable” Leftist Wasserman Schultz
That’s what I’m talking about. I say enough of this gentle debate arguing with socialists about how much of our money we can keep, let’s get this revolution started.

Get a reality Steve. You never investigate anything and you will congratulate anything Ultra-Right Wing, that crawls and has half a cerebral cortex.
Al Gore “We have passed the tipping point. We are in the last days. CO2 has killed us”
Ill, what’s wrong with that?
