The first thing Obama did when he arrived at the White House, was get rid of the bust of Winston Churchill.
CARACAS, Sept 30 (Reuters) – With both presidents facing tight re-election fights, Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez gave a surprise endorsement to Barack Obama on Sunday – and said the U.S. leader no doubt felt the same.
Since coming to office, Chavez has projected himself as the head of a global “anti-imperialist” movement inspired by his friend and ideological mentor Fidel Castro of Cuba.
Newsweek celebrated Obama’s 2008 election with this cover.
“Leading America Hater Endorsed by Chavez”

White House admits it did return Winston Churchill bust to Britain
Barack Obama’s White House has been forced to admit that it did return a bust of Sir Winston Churchill to British diplomats, after describing such claims as “100 per cent false”.

Yet your spin remains stunning and dishonest:
“The one displayed by Mr Bush was indeed returned, along with all other art lent to him, as his presidency came to an end. The other, which remains in the White House residence, was given as a gift to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1965 by a group of Atlanticist diplomats and military officers.
A spokesman for the British ambassador agreed. “Both President Obama and the Prime Minister have repeatedly underlined that our two countries remain the closest of allies.”
Wow. Obama didn’t manage to completely destroy the relationship quite yet.
Nah Steven, not enough joos in Britain to destroy that relationship.
Besides, how could Britain really stay mad at Obama? What Queen wouln’t be simply thrilled to get an ipod gift loaded with Obama speeches?. And then there was that snappy 25 classic movie set to presented to Brown…
BBS,
Yet your spin remains stunning and dishonest:
“The Builders” and “The Farm Landing”, both Bush era artwork, were retained. Winston’s bust was sent back, Winston’s face, retained, is NOT a bust. Nice try
It is NOT standard practice to return a presidents artwork upon leaving office, else Clinton’s would have been returned. (see “Sunset, Atlantic City” currently in the White house, purchased in 1995.
Why focus on the bust when you can address Obama’s love of the socialist dictator Chavez?
Strange that Chavez would endorse a sitting president from a country that Chavez postulated gave him cancer. Never mind cancer rates in Latin America are at epidemic levels according to the American Cancer Society AND a 2007 article from a Mexican newspaper. I do see Chavez’s resemblence to Obama though – always blame your problems on someone else.
Oh, that reminds me, where are the vocal greenies regarding pesticide use in Latin America? My bad. I forgot we’re all supposed to be fixated on arctic sea ice this month.
According to a press release — UN Agency Says Scale of Toxic Pesticide in Latin America ‘Frightening’ — http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2005/sag369.doc.htm
Actually, what Chavez was saying is that he IS voting for Obama. Obama ran out of dead people.
