PIOMAS – Arctic Ice Free By 2014

According to the world’s leading ice experts, “ice-free” means the size of Texas and California combined. The PIOMAS model shows that this will happen in 2013 or 2014.

According to the model, the ice is now about half as thick as it was in 2008, the year Mark Serreze predicted an ice-free pole – because the ice was so thin.

    The ice free Arctic this summer has shown many benefits, no tornadoes, no hurricanes, few fires, plenty of rain for dry areas. What is the downside?
