James Hansen has determined that they imagined the whole thing, and has succeeded in erasing the entire cooling trend from 1940 to 1975.
Isn’t science grand when you can lie and cheat using taxpayer money, and then use your lies and cheats to extort lots more taxpayer money.

This new method science is great . Post normal is the way to go . We can make the science be whatever we want it to be. The guy in charge can have it anyway he wants it . I say the sheeple are getting the government they deserve as they lack the resolve and the courage to do anything about it . you can only lie for so long, the population is increasing by a 100,000 every day, the reason – record crops around the world due to good weather, well and medicine. This is the litmus test and if the population keeps increasing they can not go on crying we are doomed. In fact the crazy thing is the media bangs on about how the population will hit 14 billion by 2100, if this is the case then we can only assume that the climate is benign enough to allow this to happen.

Also, check up on your demography. The world’s population is expected to peak in 2040 at around 8 billion or so. The population bomb has fizzled and birthrates are not skyrocketing.

Found this article from 2007 associating Dr. James Hansen with Global Cooling, or at least his software! “NASA Scientists Predicted a New Ice Age in 1971”
“NASA scientist James E. Hansen, who has publicly criticized the Bush administration for dragging its feet on climate change and labeled skeptics of man-made global warming as distracting “court jesters,” appears in a 1971 Washington Post article that warns of an impending ice age within 50 years.
The Post archives do indeed identify the existence of such a piece, with the following preview:

The Times piece continued:
The scientist was S.I. Rasool, a colleague of Mr. Hansen’s at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The article goes on to say that Mr. Rasool came to his chilling conclusions by resorting in part to a new computer program developed by Mr. Hansen that studied clouds above Venus.
The 1971 article, discovered this week by Washington resident John Lockwood while he was conducting related research at the Library of Congress, says that “in the next 50 years” – or by 2021 – fossil-fuel dust injected by man into the atmosphere “could screen out so much sunlight that the average temperature could drop by six degrees,” resulting in a buildup of “new glaciers that could eventually cover huge areas.”
It turns out the Post was referring specifically to an article published at the journal Science that day, which was written by Rasool and S. H. Schneider.”

It is not a myth that climate scientists were talking about global cooling in the 70s. Even the CIA was considering it.
“The CIA Report of 1974 drew heavily on the work of Professor Kutzbach of the University of Wisconsin, who continues to warn of the danger posed by gobal cooling. Professor Kutzbach is a co-author of a study that modelled the effect of a 3.1°C cooler climate (Phillipon-Berthier et al 2010). The premise of the study is that using a carbon dioxide concentration of 240 ppm based on typical values reached during the latter stage of previous interglacials, the climate would 3.14°K cooler than it currently is. Of that cooling, 0.45°K is attributed to vegetation effects and the balance of 2.69°K is due to the carbon dioxide level being 150 ppm less than it is currently.”

I was there and remember the (media) panic. Feverish 18 year old Warmists tell me I imagined it due to my senility. This can be proven by the fact that googling produces few hits on this topic for this time period. 😉

I think the two charts above are apples and oranges, are they not? One is the just northern hemisphere and the other is the global temperature history.
When I look at the current charts at GISS for the N hemisphere, they look pretty much the same. I don’t doubt there’s been some adjustments. I’m suggesting an accurate comparison of then and now.
Can you overlay the new N hemisphere chart on top of the old one?
Now I’m confused, I thought global warming was global and that Mann could determine the Earth’s temperature from a single tree in Siberia.
That was actually Briffa (Mann’s pal) using the advanced mathematical techniques Mann had thought up in his head one day.
Mann is so good, he could tell you the global temperature from upside down sediments!
The sediments were not upside down, only his logic. The proxy showed cooling so he flipped the data set around and declared it really showed warming. Yes he was that stupid and that desperate.
It is difficult to imagine how Hansen and Mann must really feel, knowing that for a good part of their lives they have been livng a lie.
