  1. David Appell says:

Since the free market fails to account for external damage — that’s socialized, to the tune of at least $120,000,000,000/yr — the government has a right — in fact, a duty — to correct this.

So, these losses are trivial in comparison.

  2. jmrsudbury says:

Totalling 10.2 trillion in case anyone wants to know, but what do the asterisks represent?

  3. This vaguely reminds me of the Nixon era “War on Cancer” where there was a huge funding increase on research that today is widely recognised as a failure. Or in other words, solving tough problems requires more than just throwing money at something. Coincidentally when I was revisiting this issue I discovered that Obama is currently replicating the Nixon strategy.

Heh. If anyone have brains, cancers had to do with widespread vitamin D deficiency. Whoever came up with Sun Scare belong to mental hospital… Even my old clinical nutrition book says that vitamin D is anti-cancer fighter but not much details unfortunately. Back in 1980s, pharma business knew about it and started working on it. Cost-wise, nothing beats free Vitamin D3 from the sun or dirt cheap OTC supplement… 20 bucks of 5000 IU pills a year…

I privately called it “statistical murder.” Then I realized some neocon was chatting about Economics.

  5. ralphcramdo says:

Didn’t Obama say during the last debate he knows government doesn’t create jobs?
He must think that throwing away billions of dollars does.

  6. Brian G Valentine says:

We’re only about seven bankruptcies away from total energy independence!
