Obama Affirms Climate Change Goals
Published: November 18, 2008
President-elect Barack Obama, in strongly-worded remarks to a gathering of governors and foreign officials on Tuesday, said he had no intention of softening or delaying his aggressive targets for reducing emissions that cause the warming of the planet.
Speaking by video to a climate conference in Los Angeles, Mr. Obama repeated his campaign vow to reduce climate-altering carbon dioxide emissions by 80 percent by 2050, and invest $150 billion in new energy-saving technologies.
“Now is the time to confront this challenge once and for all,” Mr. Obama said. “Delay is no longer an option. Denial is no longer an acceptable response.”
In order to reduce CO2 emissions by 80%, Obama would have to wipe these countries off the map. I don’t doubt his sincerity about getting rid of the US, but some of the other countries might be more difficult.
- China
- US
- EU
- Russia
- Canada
- Japan
- India
- Iran
- UK
- Mexico
In Obama math you multiply the promised reduction by 10 and make it an increase.
He could solve the 80% emissions issue by not getting re-elected and to stop talking.
Curse you! What I came to say….
“Future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early 21st century’s developed world went into hysterical panic over a globally averaged temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and, on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to contemplate a roll-back of the industrial age.” – Richard Lindzen, MIT
Computer model projections dish out what they were programmed to so if garbage is programmed in the AlGorithms 😆 then you get garbage out. GIGO or turtles all the way down as gator would say.
Just like how this generation looks back on witch hunts. The more we change, the more we stay the same.
Yuuup, pretty much.
He’s only sincere based on his time pandering before a specific audience. There is no true sincerity within him. It’s time for a change from his type of politician.
Four debates and not a peep about climate change. That is after thousands and thousands of leading climate experts have warned us that it is the most important issue facing our country this century. Seeems to be quite a disconnect.
It is only urgent if it brings voters to your side

Romney has been hinting the other way. He wants “energy independence” for the US. That can only translate into lots of coal, gas and oil.
shit, Spain is not on your list !
“Germany’s switch to renewable energies is driving up electricity bills across the country, with a green technology surcharge set to rise by nearly 50 percent next year. With frustration over the high price tag, it promises to become a key issue in next year’s election campaign.”

O’s cap & trade bill that -passed- the U.S. House actually called for 83% cuts iin CO2. This by 2050, but with sharp immediate cuts, and with progressively more severe cuts to follow. This would have tanked, and I mean tanked, the economy… in apocalyptic fashion. And it was illogically unilateral. America was to go down the energy destroying path alone. No cooperation from China or the other “worst offenders” was included in Obama’s anti-American bill. Funny that many of the climate scientists suggested that this extreme measure wouldn’t even change the climate in any discernible way. And yes, Obama’s cap & trade bill that was truly a “wipe the U.S. off the face of the map” bill.
