Puritans believed that humans were evil, and that faith and an ascetic lifestyle were essential components of salvation.
Global warmers share the same general idea, except that their faith is derived from James Hansen, Michael Mann and CO2.
Both groups believe that unbelievers in their faith should be severely punished.
You don’t have to go back in time to find a “religion” that resembles AGW cultism.
Mann was the winner of the Nobel Prize!
“Dr. Mann is a climate scientist whose research has focused on global warming. In 2007, along with Vice President Al Gore and his colleagues of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for having “created an ever-broader informed consensus about the connection between human activities and global warming.””

“Mann was the winner of the Nobel Prize!”
So was Al Gore !
Perhaps Gore’s was for devising a novel way to enrich one’s self by exhorting everyone else except himself to live lives of energy deprivation while he and thousands of others of the “prophet class” live jetstyle lifestyles.
Perhaps Mann and Gore can explain Blackbody curves which clearly demonstrate the backradiative “greenhouse effect” is impossible ?
Greenhouse gases – Bah humbug !
Maybe I’m wrong on this but I don’t think the original Puritans largely paid other people to do the good deeds they obligated themselves to do, so that they could carry on in the life styles they preferred. Perhaps the 16th century Catholic Church would be a more apt comparison?
