The Great Hurricane of 1780 is probably the deadliest Atlantic hurricane on record. Between 20,000 and 22,000 people died when the storm passed through the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean starting on October 10 and ending on October 16.
October hurricanes never used to happen, before George’s horse ruined the climate.

At worst, Sandy (whether it was a Cat. 1 or a TS) will crack the top 10 in cost, only by virtue of where it hit.
Why must the media redefine “unprecedented?”
Totally agree John
For loss of life, even the Galveston one of the early 20th century was a monster.
