Speculations had been mounting over whether police had purposely started a fire to smoke out the suspect, but San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon told reporters Wednesday his deputies did not intentionally burn down the mountain.

Ahhh. … that is why they were screaming “burn that fucking house down” over and over again.

My mum brought me up to never, ever, trust a policeman. They will lie, cheat and bully to get their own way. She called them “The Filth” and my limited experience of them in my own life she was totally correct.
I am sorry for you. There are many just like you describe. But I have met many who are very honest and really see their job as helping society. They are not using their badge as a ticket to easy street. Like all occupations, there are good and bad. I am fortunate to have met some of the good (and misfortune to meet some of the bad).
I agree with you, and police come up against all kinds of self-excusing lowlifes with oversized reptilian iinstincts. And Dorner chose the theatre and method of his fighting–that was the whole point for him; he knew he was going to die. The only difference between him and a terrorist is that he did it for himself, he didn’t yell “praise God!” or “Allahu Akhbar” when he killed, nor just before he killed himself (I am sure the fire didn’t get him–remember, HE wanted to go out HIS way, above all). I feel little sympathy for a man who decides the whole world is bad, so he can kill anybody without feeling any guilt. He is just another vengeful soul who didn’t get what he wanted, and decided to go out (to commit suicide, in fact) with guns blazing indiscriminately, to get revenge against the cold, cruel world.
He declared war.
That means no holds barred.
He knew what it meant, he invited it.

So, he lit the fire and nuked himself.
After taking another life.

We have a constitution and due process. The police are not allowed to make a decision to execute or lie to the public about it.
Not any more.
You predicted that the government/police/army would claim that they killed Dorner and there would be no body and no trial. You pretty much nailed it.
