In the 1960s I protested against the Vietnam War, police brutality, and Constitutional rights violations – and was called a radical left winger.
In 2013 I protest against war, police brutality and Constitutional rights violations – and am called a radical right winger.
Apparently anyone who heeds Thomas Jefferson and the other founders of the US, is considered a radical in the US.
Radical right winger!? Nah nah nah, try suspected domestic terrorist, though “radical” still fits.
I think that “radical right winger” and “suspected domestic terrorist” are used interchangeably by the Powers That Be these days.
The times they were a changin’. Our 60’s friends grew up to create a more perfect police state.
Wonder what you were called in 2003, if you protested the same.
I for one find a lot of caterwauling on the right to be pure politics. The way Barack and his henchmen are trying to stretch the bogeyman of Iran into the mix, is not very dissimilar to his predecessor trying to do the same stretching of Al Qaeda to Iraq.
The times really haven’t changed in the way that you mean. The establishment has always been Communist and anti-Christ. But there have been varying degrees of cover for that, dating back to Constantine. The “change” you reference is the beginning of a process of shedding all of their cover, a cover which has ebbed and flowed since the Fourth Century. People — even non-Christians — have to be conditioned to accept this, and that’s what the 1960s were mainly about. The “anti-establishment” forces of the 60s were pro-establishment all along. You are starting to wake up this, but it may take a lot more shock and probably pain in your life before you will fully accept the obvious reality. People tend to resist most what is most blatant and right in front of their face, cf. Hitler and Goebbels.

That would be “reactionary” right winger.
That is my story also. I have been saying the same things since I was 14 or 15.
Was a hippie, now a Hillbilly!
While we disagree on many things, our basic political philosophy actually has a name, it is “Classical Liberal”. The term came in vogue to distinguish real liberals from the statist Wilsonian variety, who are still in charge today…be it neoliberal or neocon…they are both simply globalist, socialist, authoritarianism.
