We had the best summer in years here along the Front Range, but it is fading fast. There is a big blast of cold air headed across the entire US next week.

Here in the desert southwest we had a wonderful summer as well – not too hot at all. It was reported as the fifth hottest on record and the local newspaper that reported it clearly attributed it to recent rise in urban growth and UHI noting the nights were warmer, not the days. I found it reassuring that our local MSM is finally chucking the Global Warming references. Now the cooler weather is coming. We also had a typical autumn heat wave, or Indian Summer as did California but now comes the cool.
