UK Summers May Warm By 10C

You mean grapes for wine could be grown in England again like the Romans did? 😉
Uh, grapes for wine are already being grown in England.
This comment from wikipedia is accurate but poorly phrased:
It’s correct, but “rising temperatures due to global warming” refers to the 1990s, not the 1970s. Although viticulture was revived in the 1970s, it wasn’t until the warmer temps of the 1990s arrived that it really took off.
There are now nearly 400 UK vineyards.
Of course it’s global warming ChrisD. Why is the word ‘possibly’ in there? You know you wish it said ‘certainly’. Why do you quote skeptics?
You avoided this quote from Wikipedia:
Though evidence of Vitis vinifera vines on the British Isle dates back to the Hoxnian Stage when the climate was much warmer than it is today
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_%28wine%29#Britain
Don’t forget to contact William Connolley so he can butcher that line out of Wikipedia after he returns from his 6 month ban for abusing Wikipedia rules.
As usual, you try to skirt the issue with irrelevancies. Neither wikipedia nor William Connolley have anything to do with the point.
You stated that “grapes for wine could be grown in England again,” apparently unaware that grapes are already being grown in England.

No, that is not what I said.

Provide proof of a history of me skirting issues.
If you do not provide proof you are lying and spamming.

You’re going to have to explain how it is irrelevant to point out the Wikipedia quote that it was warmer when Romans were in England than it is now.

Viticulture was revived in the 1970s onwards, possibly helped by a rising local temperature due to global warming
It is likely due to the Great Climate Shift and not to “global warming”.

How convenient of you to truncate the quote.
I like it that people can read these comments and see how you do things.

Not like the Romans. Romans grew grapes farther north than can be done today.
“Not like the Romans. Romans grew grapes farther north than can be done today.”
Any Evidence? There is no Vineyards that I know of in the East Midlands in England but I have friends there that grow grapes outside. They probably grow further north too.
I also have no knowledge that any Roman Settlements that far North grew grapes, do you?
MET super computer still broken, they still believe in the pretend ash cloud that wasn’t there as well LOL
Grapes are grown in England now, often with startling success.

http://icecap.us/index.php/go/joes-blog wow I like this site better then the MET, it doesn’t make up temperatures it tell the truth
So will this quench the thirst of millions in Africa?
If it does warm, it will as the Sahara goes green when temperatures go up. Time to unlock that water
I don’t know, But first who will pay for the millions that have dies there from the DDT ban.
In 2080?
And the real world evidence to validate this would be?
My brother is treading his grapes (not literally) at this moment in Wiltshire. He harvested them in the rain this afternoon because it was too wet to build a wall. His grafted vines were specially selected to flourish in the UK, but he is very aware that the weather this season is not conducive to a good vintage.
He will need to resort to chaptalization in order to produce a decent product, but I can attest that his homemade bubbly from 4 years back is extremely drinkable. I grew hybrid vines from 1976 until 1982 in Hertford and enjoyed the challenge, but after fermentation and racking off, there was never enough wine to bottle. I’d guzzle it. By Bacchus, did I drink some vile stuff, however you take the rough with the smooth when it’s free.
The fact the grapes can be grown in the UK is a bit of a red herring. The Germans have to cope with more difficult conditions and they do good things.

Where in Wiltshire? I spend a lot of time near Tisbury.
