Can The Independent Put Two And Two Together?

What a question. This is the Independent we’re talking about, home of Robert Fisk amd Yasmin Alibhai-Brown .
As Johnny Mac would say, “You cannot be serious”‘
Can The Independent Put Two And Two Together?
More importantly, can the people reading The Independent put two and two together? I know some can.
It finally snowed in Kent, a mighty 1cm, or about 1/3 inch for Americans and their 17th Century measuring systems.
My wife said “Make sure you put a blanket in the car for the drive to work”. I only go up the M25, if I got stuck I could ring her to get me one. Sigh.
Andy
That is known as “The English System” of measurement.
“British Imperial Units” and includes the colonies in North America. Rule Britannia.
We had it all last night in Sheffield, about 6″
Ithink it is heading your way later on.
1 CM is .394 inch. We Americans would round that off to 3/8 of an inch if we chose to convert it. Nobody refers to a measurement of 1/3 of an inch. Look at a standard ruler. There is no mark for a 1/3 of an inch. It would seem odd.

Thanks Steven. I used the above story of UK snow in my latest article, “Cancun capitalism vs. climate socialism”, http://funwithgovernment.blogspot.com/2010/11/cancun-capitalism-vs-climate-socialism.html
