The Palmer Drought Severity Index for March 2026 was the worst on record, worst than March 1934 and March 1977.

Streamflow in many US rivers is near or at a record low.

Generally wetter during the cold AMO phases.

On Twitter you have been constantly pointing out that nobody in authority seems worried about Lake Powell’s declining water level. Just wait until it is a disaster, and then they will panic!
Lake Ivie, a big West Texas reservoir, had such low water levels in 2012 that Midland, in a panic, built T-Bar pipeline to a new water source, at a too-high price of $200 million. The lake level had been irregularly declining since 1998 – 14 years of decline – but nobody in authority had noticed.
I read somewhere that the Colorado River watershed is receiving about 7% less rainfall than before the year 2000. obviously climate change. obviously man-made climate change!!! FYI, 1,000 miles Northeast of there is Devil’s Lake North Dakota. in the same period of time, that lake has increased in size by tens of thousands of acres. it can increase in size because there’s no outlet until the lake reaches close to 300,000 acres, which is about an 8 ft increase in elevation , (almost there). Devil’s Lake is much bigger than Lake Powell. it’s not just North Dakota experiencing above average rainfall, let’s go look at Lake Thompson South Dakota in the South East part of the state. that Lake completely dried up in the 1930s and now it’s at 16,000 acres. mother nature is a bit of a fickle B. no doubt The increased rainfall 1,000 miles to the Northeast of the Colorado River watershed is also climate change. everything is climate change. I don’t want anybody reading this thinking I don’t believe in climate change. I do. climate change made Al Gore a rich man.
Climate change is a fact, it just has bugger all to do with human activity.
I’m not aware of any climate change man-made or otherwise. it’s a scam. last time the climate changed was the late 1800s when it warmed up a little.
Just look how Las Vegas has grown in 20 years.

A cynic might say that this will be a good year for farmers to be short of fertiliser since without water they can’t grow much anyway. Every cloud has a silver lining.
2:00 a.m. Central Time in Minnesota. currently snowing in eight states. before the climate changed in the late 1800s it would have been snowing in 12 states. are we better off now or then? lol
Obviously this petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide was partly successful.

the next Armageddon drought apparently postponed.. here I am reporting from South Central Minnesota. been very dry here. but here is the lifesaver. . now that spring has sprung we often get precipitation this time of year from the Gulf of Mexico and it came through for us yesterday. if you looked at the narrow band of precipitation coming our way from the south you would have thought we’d be lucky to get a quarter inch but instead we got almost a full inch. that’s all we need here this week. ..April showers bring may flowers
April brings the sweet spring showers, on and on for hours and hours?
