Only 31 degrees below normal last night. A blanket of human generated CO2 is trapping the heat from the Urban Heat Island.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Is normal the same as average? I used to have in my mind that normal was more of a range like the standard deviations. That does not line up with the common usage. It is my perception that “normal” is generally used exactly like you use it when people are referring to temperature and rainfall.
9 below this morning in Gillette.

Stopped in Gillette, WY at a McDonald’s just off interstate last year. Roads all tore up, heavy traffic, and people buying burgers with a credit card. A cousin moved there several years ago but after that experience I decided not to try to find him and drove on to Greybull.
Meanwhile over in the Sea of Okhotsk the Russians don’t seem much nearer extricating the 2 fish factory ships stuck in the ice.
“Just another normal winter, it would seem, with global warming rampant.”

All that warmth in Ft Collins is what is causing the pine beetle infestation to run rampant!
The heat makes them all randy. And apparently missing heat does the same thing.
A few years ago some group attempted to push the BS that cold Winters are needed to kill off the Beatles. After the temperature dropped below the claimed level I heard nothing more about that fantasy.
And of course, neither natural boom and bust cycles of forest insects nor the introduction of white pine blister rust has anything at all to do with it …..
Going riding in your tank top and shorts now?
Three layers, Sherpa cap, scarf and mittens. Snug as a bug in a rug.
I put my foot down when it hit -5 (I was riding to work – about 2 miles) and dumped the bike. Sorry, you have my vote for polar bear of the year, but I am not going there when the temperature drops below 0!!!!
I have six miles each way, and usually ride another 10-20 miles for shopping and recreation. It is actually very fun, the snow is a blast and traffic is light.
enjoy it while you can. soon enough you get old and cranky and then need studded tires or something.
-8F? Impossible in Colorado, this is the “Big Error”.
:O)
