The area around Los Alamos is starting to get a lot of rain, and will likely continue to do so for the next six to eight weeks. The burned out areas don’t hold water very well, so flash flooding is their next problem.
After the 1977 La Mesa Fire I had lunch one day on a foot bridge in Bandelier National Monument, made of 30″ pine logs. It was a well known landmark which had been there for decades. I went back in the evening and the bridge was gone without a trace.
