Energy received from the Sun either accumulates in the oceans or goes back out into space. If the oceans aren’t warming, that means that the amount of heat going back into space is equal to the amount being received from the Sun.

Global warming proponents talk mindlessly about the atmosphere “trapping heat” – but this concept is ridiculous. The heat capacity of the atmosphere is very small, as indicated by the fact that it can cool 50 degrees over the desert, just a few hours after the sun sets. If the oceans aren’t warming, global warming isn’t happening – period.

    In many temperate locations the temperature 18 inches below ground is the yearly average for that location. There has been a lot of study regarding temperatures underground but the ground also retains warmth received from the sun and does not give it up as easy as the oceans. Real world evidence is provided by walking into a cave or a root cellar.

  3. Volcanoes! The heat is hiding in volcanoes, which is why the Nipponese Tsunami really was the fault of us denialacatorizors. See, fracking causes heat & water to be exuded millions of miles below the surface (which is why it’s also poisoning the aquifers) where it’s already millions of degrees (though admittedly that’s °C, so it’s not as bad as, say, Rankine), causing a temporary warp core instability which recalibrates the main dish 360° out of phase. The energy then goes into the core of the Earth and bubbles up at the volcanic hot-spots like Nippon.

    It’s your fault.

    Pielke Sr. has a review of a new paper from some folks at KNMI that is pretty funny. Through modeling they conclude that the missing heat HAS TO HAVE GONE either into deep ocean or out into space. RPS notes that ARGO has not OBSERVED any heat movement from the upper oceans into deeper levels. RPS then wonders why these scientists never discuss at what point the model is falsified if real world observations refute modeled scenarios. The paper contains many leaps of faith (modeled faith?) in an effort to support the possibility that heat may have moved into deep oceans even though no explaaination is given as to how heat can move to depths below 700 meters without being detected by buoys.

    BTW I read that the hockey team is bad mouthing the S/B paper and Trenberth has is panties in a wad about it too making a comment to the effect that he is surprised anyone would publish the S/B paper. lol

      Braswell should have had his name first on this paper! even though it is the furthest from what “Travesty” Trenberth says.

  5. I calculated that the heat capacity of the atmosphere is equivalent to about 3.7 metres depth of sea water. The ratio is several hundred-to-one.The heat capacity differential is also the reason sea ice can melt so rapidly whereas land ice melts slowly (only warmed by atmosphere, the sun and the boots of thousands of tearful researchers).
