Obama’s “Blue Ribbon” Commission – Screwing Around As Usual

Umm …… experts ……

A blue-ribbon commission assigned by President Obama in January 2010 to come up with an alternative to the plan for a nuclear waste repository at Nevada’s Yucca Mountain will recommend that at least one new site be found to store waste left over from the nation’s nuclear power plants, people familiar with the report said Thursday.

The commission — chaired by former Democratic congressman Lee Hamilton and Brent Scowcroft, national security adviser to President George H.W. Bush — does not suggest where that storage site would be located.

I worked on the Safety Analysis Report for the DOE’s WIPP site 30 years ago. Nuclear waste decisions are just as big a joke as Congress doing something about the debt. They will never make a decision.

Are they afraid that the Nevada Test Site will get contaminated with radiation? We already blew up a thousand thermonuclear weapons there.

The Nevada site will only go forward when the clown from Nevada, in the senate, is gone. Libs would always be “ashamed” of Dubya’s speech style, but in comparison to the zero form reno, Dubya was a smooth operator.

Interesting, Steve. I had no idea you even knew what a SAR was. Most people don’t.

This Yucca Mtn. thing has driven me long past the duct tape around my head stage. When they made the criteria that it was supposed to be capable of lasting a million years, I threw my hands up. Only models (and we all know how well that works) can predict what is going to happen a million years from now. And the more inert we make the “waste” products, the more we will be cursed when people a hundred or so years from now want to use them for the resource they are.
