Rick Perry Was Al Gore’s Texas Campaign Chairman in 1988
Political observers have noted that Jon Huntsman is likely to take some flack from conservatives for having served as President Obama’s Ambassador to China until recently. But Huntsman isn’t the only prospective GOP candidate who has worked for a prominent Democratic politician in years past.Rick Perry, who entered the Texas legislature as a Democrat in 1984, served as Al Gore’s Texas Campaign Chairman in the 1988 presidential campaign. Soon after the campaign, Perry switched parties and was elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner as a Republican in 1990. “Going through that (Gore experience) was part of what started me through the process of changing parties in 1989,” Perry later said. “I came to my senses.”

As a big fan of Perry this has always troubled me but I think that he just provided the answer that makes me feel better about him.
Sort of a litmus test. Whoever has worked with Gore and not changed parties is truly suspect.
It’s a two horse race, Romney and Bachmann. The rest should drop out now and save their money.
‘The man that made Clinton’, Dick Morris, talks about Romney and Bachmann:

Methinks you are wrong about the horses in the race… although that is how it looks at this moment.
Who are they then?
I think Perry could clear the field were he to announce soon.
Don’t think so.

That was one of the most amazing things to me, of it all….
….after everything he said and did
As people find out who Barcack Obama really is they don’t like him anymore. He won’t be able to just say “Hope and Change” to win. And he won’t be able to change people’s memory of what they see him doing. I think he’s un-reelectable.
but AAM, I’ve been thinking that since Pelosi was made speaker…..
The last President to piss off Israel was Bush Sr., who was also, NOT coincidentally, the last one term President.
Hoping that history repeats itself.
The thing that bothers me with Perry is more the fact that even to this day he is still appears to be in bed T. Boone Pickens with the “wind wnergy” scam(s).
Huntmans is a RINO, and I don’t mean in the sense that he is a soft Republican. The man is a Democrat plant. If there still existed journalism in this country it could probably be found out that Huntsman’s financing is coming from the left.
Huntsman lead the US delegation in China which apologized to the PRC for Arizona’s immigration law.

Remember, Reagan was once a Democrat. Maybe the converted are more committed.
Don’t get me started on Reagan. I’ll just leave it at this: he was the one that started prosperity through debt. Right at the end of his 8 years was when America changed from being a creditor to other Nations to be a debtor to other Nations. You know those debt clocks that have numbers changing so fast they are just a blur? That started in the Reagan years. He still had
Democrat in him even though he changed Parties. How do you think he won over the ‘Reagan Democrats’?
Andy Weiss – yes. Kind of like those who “choose” their path, versus those “born” to it. I am not crazy about Perry, but that was 23 years ago – a life time in politics.
I agree with what you say about Reagan. But he has almost god-like status for conservatives. They keep wanting to rename everything in the world for him.
History has still not reached it’s final verdict. Sure, Reagan facilitated the collapse of the Soviet Union. He also helped to pull the US out a bad economic situation and restored pride in America after the horrible Carter years. But if this debt does us in, Reagan will be as responsible as anyone.
America needs a hard core conservative. I don’t think anyone in the race fits this description. But yes, Huntsman is a plant. And Romney isn’t much better. The money of the left will flood into Romney’s war chest. I love Michelle, but I don’t know if she will be able to defeat Romney. I have been giving fairly large sums these last two years for the first time ever. If you’re not willing to be active, you should ask yourself what you stand to lose if we don’t get the country back on track, and donate accordingly. Jim DeMint has a great PAC that looks for true conservatives. I think we all see that you can no longer support a candidate by party. Everything about them matters now. Santorum is a true Skeptic. Maybe he can be Veep.
