I did some Google research on Arctic-End-of-Times predictions and it looked to me like 2030 is the new 2012 – could have just been the way I did my searches though.
First it was the grandchildren and I figured that at about 2020, then in 2007 wind compacted arctic ice and the beehive of faddish group-thinking warmista went all abuzz – but for no purpose as the arctic refused to cooperate in subsequent years.
Skillful predictions? Ha. Ha. Ha. So funny.
Serreze is truly a “One-Trick pony”.

It looks like Hurricane Bret has made landfall (or is it icefall?) near the North Pole. The first time a hurricane has made landfall that far north, a sure sign of catastrophic warming.

Everybody knows that cold is the new hot and cooling is the new warming. By a consensus vote, ice has been ordered to melt when below 0 deg C and freeze when above this.

Well. we might have to start cooking and heating with cow dung first if the cost of living esculates this way due to the likes of increased GST, ETS, etc. NZ has just had its highest inflation in 21yrs.
20% increase in Fuel costs, 11% increase in transportation costs, 7.8% increase in electricity, 7% increase in food costs. Overall increase to the CPI of 5.3% to June 2011.
The ETS didn’t do so much for snow. We had a late start to our snow season this year compared to the record and near record early snow and cold for last 3 yrs. Having said that the late snowfall to the Queenstown Central Otago and Southland regions in NZ’s SI was the heaviest snowdump in 20yrs. There was some moans going on about the lack of snow for the Queenstown winter festival before that.

Dumped in New Zealand ski heaven

A wintry blast has dumped a deep snow blanket across New Zealand’s mountains over the past week, leaving ski fields in the north and south in superb shape for the winter season.
Southern Alps heliski operators Harris Mountains Heliski kicked their operation into gear this week with guides reporting descents down to valley floors on runs that “have not been experienced in the past 20-odd years”.
Queenstown is buzzing after continuous heavy snow falls, combined with consistently cold temperatures, turned the downtown resort and its surrounding mountains into a winter wonderland.

Something interesting in this Serreze statement: “we are on track to see an ice-free summer by 2030. It is an overall downward spiral.”
Considering that satellites began this craze in 1979 (nearing the end of an approx 30-year cool micro-cycle). Serreze has essentially said that 30-year cooling *is* followed by 60+ year warming. Nothing that firm could ever be known today, and it is far more likely that he has it back-asswards.
A better guess is cooling until 2030-ish *then* warming out to 2060-ish. This is just following rough numbers from recent history post-LIA.
Anyway, Serreze and his underlings should all be fired. They are political hacks with an agenda, whatever scientific credentials they managed to buy at college are meaningless. Every story out of that NSIDC is a crafted propaganda effort.
For those in the USA who are active in the current political scene (TEA Parties, grass roots, etc), I suggest the following. Contact as many members of Congress that you can, starting with your own but don’t stop there. Suggest by name that Serreze and his propaganda corp be defunded, shut down, pensions canceled and the money returned to the taxpayers. This is one of many federal agencies that should be eliminated. Now is the time, under the current budget debates.
