NHC needs to create several new hurricane categories to handle situations like thunderstorm Don.
Category 0 hurricane, where wind speeds do not exceed 40 mph.
Category -1 hurricane, where wind speeds do not exceed 10 mph.
Category 0 hurricanes would trigger emergency parking of wind farm turbines.
It won’t have any impact on ACE or PDI, but it will provide a wonderful hockey stick for hurricane numbers.
