Warmer Temperatures Mean Less Rain In Montana

One of the big climate lies of 2011 has been that warmer temperatures cause more rain. Naomi Klein repeated that nonsense today about flooding in Montana, and of course failed to mention that it has been an exceptionally cold year in the Northwest states.

The graph below plots annual rainfall vs. temperature for all years in the NCDC Montana record. It is quite clear that warmer temperatures do not correlate with more rainfall.

Hansen says that people who lie about the climate should be put in jail.

  1. Dave N says:

“Hansen says that people who lie about the climate should be put in jail.”

I’m fine with that as long as he is subject to the same rule, and that the veracity is determined by a truly impartial body. I look forward to Hansen either recanting his nonsense, or being jailed. I expect the former to happen when either of the poles are ice-free in winter.

And what’s the lie? Does it have anything to do with the title and argument above? If it does, it’s mere child’s play explaining the obvious.

So I challenge you to explain how the argumentation I present is false instead of making silly remarks.

The warmer water is, the more it evaporates.

The more water vapor there is the greater the precipitation.

Precipitation comes from the evaporation of water throughout the entire earth and falls on any area on earth.

A specific region doesn’t need to have a specific temperature, colder or warmer than average for precipitation to fall upon it.

I learned this in elementary school.

    THE RAIN CYCLE

    A)

    1. Ocean water evaporates.
    2. Vapor goes up, up, up and becomes…clouds.
    3. Clouds rain down back into the ocean.
    4. Or land; which then goes into creeks, rivers, bigger rivers that empty into oceans or lakes.
    5. Clouds snow down into the land; which lingers for a while. Then it goes back to the ocean or lakes through the above mentioned route.
    6. Round and round the merry go round.

    B) Warmer water evaporates more.

    C)

Warmer temperatures = warmer ocean = more evaporation = more rain/snow which will fall anywhere on Earth even if the specific region it falls upon is colder than average.

    CONCLUSION:

MONTANA doesn’t have to be warm in order to get more rain/snow because it’s FROM THE DAMN OCEANS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE EARTH (i.e. not Montana) THAT ITS PRECIPITATION COMES FROM!!!

    For our next lesson:

See Spot run. Run spot, run! . . .

    • That is why they get so much rain on Venus and in Libya.

      • Ill wind blowing says:

“That is why they get so much rain on Venus and in Libya.”

Such precise logic; such brilliant argumentation!

Now what does that have to do with this meaningless thread about Montana somehow disproving that the laws of physics aren’t operating?

        ENCORE:

Warmer temperatures = warmer ocean = more evaporation = more rain/snow which will fall anywhere on Earth even if the specific region it falls upon is colder than average.

MONTANA doesn’t have to be warm in order to get more rain/snow because it’s FROM THE DAMN OCEANS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE EARTH (i.e. not Montana itself) THAT ITS PRECIPITATION COMES FROM!!!
