I feel sorry for the residents whose homes were lost or damaged by Sandy. But let’s be realistic: on a scale of 1 to 10, Sandy probably rates a 2 or 3 in terms of damage.
What would have happened to coastal residents if a category 3 or 4 hurricane had swept through the area?
Sandy has demonstrated one thing: New York City and other coastal metropolitan areas in the Northeast are ill-prepared to handle a major natural disaster. How do hospital generators go out or run out of fuel? Meanwhile, the lights never went out in the Golden Sachs Group building. The company was prepared with backup generators that worked.
Mayor Bloomberg should stick to banning large soft drinks. Sicking his nose into other people’s business is obviously his life’s calling.
That picture will rate right up there with Gingrich/Pelosi on the couch for plateauing a political career.
President AWOL has his hand in Christie’s back pocket lifting his wallet and Christie is feeling how much meat is on president AWOL’s bones in case he gets hunger cramps. 🙂
He also loves wind mills. That should tell you more than enough.
Cristie should be expelled from the GOP for this exhibition.
What’s with the hugginess? He apparently didn’t seem to give a damn about presidential politics in his RNC speech either, as the speech amounted to little more than unabashed self-promotion. Christie should stick to pushing leftist climate change, and quit bending over backwards in an effort to make O look good right before the election.
If the roles had been reversed the Donk governor would have snubbed the prez and ran to the press blaming the prez. Of course, that won’t be permitted with a GOP governor and a donk prez. The press would excoriate the governor.

Christie must be on the David Appell nutritional program.
Maybe we should be looking at the bigger picture here:
1. NJ has been hit by a major storm. The people there need help.
2. I’ve watched Governor Christie the last several years, and I don’t doubt that he has the interest of NJ’s citizens at heart.
3. Both men are politicians. Effective politics is the art of compromise. If Gov. Christie has to temper his misgivings about Pres. Obama to smooth the way for Federal aid for his constituents, then he has an obligation to do so.
4. It’s for sure that Pres. Obama comes out of this looking good right before the election, but as Gov. Christie has said, the election is a distant second to taking care of his constituents.
5. Gov. Christie is rightly focusing on the needs of his state, and ‘optics’ be damned. That’s what leadership is. Leaders don’t care who gets the credit, as long as the job gets done.
6. I would say that Gov. Christie is working Obama, because he knows that the president is in a position of political weakness. Who better to ask favors of?
Christie is perfectly happy to help Obama get re-elected in a close election. He is toast.

Presumably his calculation is that if Obama wins, Romney and Ryan will be damaged goods, leaving him a clearer run for the 2016 nomination, but even fickle voters should have a better memory than to let him get away with it.
