Most Extreme Summer Ever

There were extremely few tornadoes and hurricanes in the US.  We are soon headed into our eighth year without a major hurricane, the longest such period since the Civil War.

This past summer was also the quietest on record for tornadoes.

I drove across Colorado twice, on two different roads this weekend – and did not see any fire damage. Driving up I-25 past Colorado Springs I strained to see the Waldo Canyon Fire, and couldn’t find it. I couldn’t see any fire damage near the Air Force Academy, and there have been very few fires here in Colorado over the last three months.

Also October has gotten off to a cold start over much of the US, up to 10 degrees below normal for the first 8 days.

  3. Steve you just don’t get it. Extreme weather events can also mean when nothing happens for an extremely long period of time.
