Sandy Is The Worst Thing That Ever Happened

You can think of Sandy as being a huge left-wing circle jerk.

Hurricane Sandy, could be the largest storm ever to hit the United States, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Why doesn’t he just tweet: “We’re all gonna die, we’re all gonna die! Mommy!!!!”.

  2. Joe's World(progressive evolution) says:

    Steven,

I thought my wife’s ‘silent but deadly’ was the worse threat….

Mckibble is trying to stop the use of fossil fuels. Maybe he should consult those that have been trying to stop the use of drugs and get some tips on how they are doing. Or maybe, he should try the NRDC suggestion that people eat one less meal of chicken a week and see if he could accomplish that much. OR maybe even a smaller goal, try to get people to stop drinking sodas so they won’t be so fat, something simple. He has to satisfy his OCD to get people to STOP doing something he deems bad for the planet, but he may be shooting a tad too high.

  4. TWC is claiming the wind field extend to Atlanta. They just had gusts. Are the meteorologists attributing everything to this Cat 1 (questionable on even hurricane status) the approaching front/jet stream?

  5. Dave N says:

“Largest” as in area covered, but hey.. when you’re trying to sell scary stories, you don’t highlight facts like that.

  6. I recently suffered through a long rambling interview of McKibbin… sustainability, organic farming is good, produce local, decentralisation, fossil fuels really really bad, economic growth bad, importance of connection with natural world, loss of community, peoples houses are too large, people are less happy than they were 50 years ago, materialism bad, fossil fuels bad…

30 minutes of platitudes disconnected from any practical solution or useful idea.

  7. Eric Webb says:

According to Joe Bastardi, the 1944 hurricane had a much larger area of hurricane force winds than Sandy, it had a 400 mile diameter of hurricane force winds.

  8. gator69 says:

He really should save some of this for Halloween. Then he can put a flashlight under his chin, and tweet scary stories from under his sheets.

The winter storm of 1993 effected the entire east coast and stretched from central America up to new England. That is kinda big.

This strong Cat.-3 Hurricane struck several coastal areas of New England in September of 1938 with little warning, killing 256 people and moving at a forward speed over 50 MPH. The Blue Hill Observatory at Milton, Massachusetts reported a sustained wind of 121 MPH with a gust of 183 MPH. Hartford Connecticut had a low pressure reading of 28.04 inches. Just over 2000 people were injured. [Great Video. Last night my grandmother back i of n NYC told me on the phone that the hurricane of 1938 was the first time she ever missed a day of work.]

…Sandy is only Category 1. If it were any bigger and the size of a continent, then I’d see it as a bad storm. Historical evidence shows that the 1880’s had the worst hurricanes EVER.
