A long time friend of mine is about to die. She started with marijuana in high school forty years ago, got addicted to cocaine the first time she took it, got into other drugs, got Hepatitis C and was waiting for a liver transplant. Some incompetent workers at the hospital made critical errors inserting a catheter a couple of weeks ago, and now she appears to only have a few hours left.
Drugs kill.
I take it she contracted a nosocomial infection?
I don’t know the details.
@Steve: Sorry to hear … my prayers are with you and your friend.
Look for the Light.
Losing friends or family is always painful, from whatever cause.
Sorry to hear you are going through this now.
Look to your “North Star” for grounding ie: your values, your beliefs, your religion.
Any meaningful life focus is helpful.
I care.
To err is human.
What critical errors were made during the catheter insertion? What type of catheter? How is the error causing her death?
Sorry for your impending loss. That said, she made poor lifestyle choices.
Bleeding and poor drainage.
Bleeding is common in end-stage liver disease. Drainage from where? What type of catheter? TIPS? Central line? Urinary?
I don’t know much about it. She was feeling well and getting around fine before the doctor convinced her to have the catheter inserted.
I haven’t been to a doctor since about 1993.
They’re always wanting to give you some medication or something.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Too many have made poor choices, and the consequences are often devastating
Addiction kills. Don’t let drugs abuse you.
The abusers never realize it. An abused child always clings closest to the abusing parent.
Alcohol kills and destroys people too. My dad lost his leg 2 years ago because of his drinking for 50+ years.
I do not have such a friend, just a very good friend of my wife who followed the same path. She is a lot younger (only in her 20s now), but she did manage to betray us and steal almost $50k worth of silver and jewelry (and a Kitchen stove???? – Scrap value). She would have taken it all had we not discovered her thefts (a little at a time).
She is in rehab now. I still do not trust her.
You can take all the drugs you want. But do not expect me to be around to support your habits.
Drugs kill. Wrong Presidents too. It looks like a lot of Americans are addicted to evil, addicted to free stuff. But free stuff has its price the price is giving up freedom. The moment they realise this it could be too late.I hope she regained her freedom.
