Ray Law, 60, died of complications two days after his prostate cancer operation at Lincoln County Hospital in February 2010.
On the day he died, a senior doctor raised serious concerns about the incident in an internal memo, saying the targets were putting patients at risk and putting “enormous and unsustainable pressure” on surgeons. On Thursday night, Mrs Law told The Daily Telegraph of her “anger” at being kept in the dark and said: “I want answers.”
Her daughter Nikki Law, 35, said: “It’s absolutely despicable. I have no trust in the NHS whatsoever. We’ll definitely take legal action.”Father died after surgery driven by regime of targets – Telegraph

Killed the patient but they met their “target”, sounds like typical government “help” to me!
It keeps the re-admission rate down.
The future for America!
Ban government health care.
The operation was a success but the patient died
This is a one off, you can get an emergency appointment to see you physician within 2 hours, you only wait in the ER (We call it A&E) if it is not serious, if it is you are seen immediately, don’t believe everything you read in the papers, I think the UK Levinson enquirery has proved how inaccurate the papers are here,, we had 15 years of a Tory government who refused to spend a penny on it, since Labour’s time in power they have invested billions and it is getting back to a good system although the Tory party is doing its best to sabotage it again. The USA is one of the most amazing countries on earth and you champion individuals rights but it has always been your dark dirty secret that you do not provide the same level of care for everyone and if you are rich you have more of a chance of living or receiving better healthcare than someone less fortunate. I congratulate President Obama and its a shame that he was not able to push it further, Your health should be your unquestionable right and Universal Health Care is a wonderful thing. I hope I don’t offend anyone by my remarks, I respect everyone’s right to have there own opinion, its just in my 39 years I have been admitted to hospital several times and have never had an issue except with the food and not once have I ever been refused to see a physician.
Noone in the US ever died because they did not have insurance, we have the best healthcare in the world. And yes I have seen the ‘surveys’ that claim we are not on top, and they are rubbish, as they purposely weight insignificant and misleading factors to favor other countries.
The only time I have ever seen anyone denied necessary surgery here, was when I relied on the Department of Defense to provide it for me. Since they ran the plan, they made all the calls, and denied me surgery that I required. I had to find a teaching hospital, and a world class surgeon to perform the surgery, and write it off as ‘experimental’.
You can keep your Big Brother health plans.
Freedom is something most of the rest of the world just does not understand. It means being free to make your own way, not free healthcare.
