He may not be referring to sea ice. He may be referring to increased snow fall in the Antarctic interior. Of course, there is no evidence for either an increase in atmospheric water vapour content or changes to Antarctica’s SMB (surface mass balance). So as usual, they are confusing theories with reality. Or as sceptics describe it, “making shit up”.

Perpetual snow that adds volume as it cycles from water to snow. Must be a new branch of physics called Total BS.
So, it is true that at some point, the weather becomes too cold to snow, and if the air warms up a bit, the conditions for snow improve. What does not make sense however is that warming in the antarctic is causing more ice. That is dependent upon the surrounding waters being cooled to below their freezing temperatures which are never improved due to warm air.
It can’t cause more sea ice, but it could (theoretically) cause more snow in the interior.
Remember the good ol’ days when warmists would claim that loss of Antarctic ice was caused by AGW and exaggerate the amount of ice loss at that.

They are somewhat schizophrenic over Antarctica. On the one hand their “models” tell them that the south pole should warm very slowly due to UV and the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. On the other hand, if they could find any evidence of warming there, those models would go out the window and they would immediately switch to ‘see we knew/predicted this all along’. 😉

You’re being a tad generous. Under the all encompassing Rube Goldberg scheme that is AGW it is possible to selectively backfill the justification for any weather phenomenon anywwhere with a plausible sounding expalanation, which the warmist seem to delight in doing since it’s really all a big joke on the yokels to them anyway.
It would be nice for a warmist to demonstrate how Antarctica’s share of the 1 degreee F supposed increase in the world’s global mean temperature over the last century has resulted in such an increase in the humidity over Antarctica.

Not over the Antarctic. Too cold there. It would, in their theory, just snow more. This is why the original IPCC sea level rise forecast was so modest. Increases in surface mass balance over Antarctica due to additional snowfall would offset sea level rise elsewhere.
To be fair, Richard Owens appears to be a high school kid (Broken Arrow High School).
