As far as I can tell, people kill for one of three reasons
- Someone they consider to be an authority told them that it is OK to kill
- They are in fear for their safety
- They are in a deranged mental state
Government needs to focus on reducing these three factors, rather than mindlessly destroying the US Constitution.
Lanza and Holmes were likely a combination of #1 and #3, but we will probably never know.
4. Killing gives them power/control over something/someone to compensate for their sorry lives.

5. They are a law abiding citizen who happens upon a massacre in progress, and kill to prevent further carnage by someone in a deranged mental state (#3).
Killers target gun-free zones, to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Touche, but every once in a while the deranged assumes a Colorado megachurch is gun-free, much to their terminal chagrin.
