I was at Niagara Falls this afternoon. It was wicked cold, snowing and the river is jammed with ice.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

OT, but in case anyone forgot–melting causes freezing. See this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21991487
Just like how exercise makes you fat, spending makes you rich, and screaming makes you quiet. Up is down.
Nice shots of the Falls, btw. It would be really cool to have a time-lapse film covering thousands of years showing their retreat to the current position. By the way, that retreat wasn’t caused by erosion–it was CO2 in the water that dissovled the underlying rock. 😉
Sound points well made. 🙂
You gotta love the “thought to be” garbage being spewed out these days. Translation: “we’re too lazy to do actual observations, so we’ll make something up that fits the CAGW narrative”.
More evidence of the the impact of devilish man-caused CO2, this time in the form of ice and snow. Mother Nature simply isn’t cooperating with all those elaborate climate models projecting a planetary meltdown by whatever the latest future day of reckoning happens to be.
Introducing the latest Climate Science talking point: “Just because the planet hasn’t warmed for 16 years, doesn’t mean it isn’t actually warming. We’re confident the warming will resume soon (otherwise, we need to scare up some more funding).”
Since all the ice melting at the North Pole is causing polar bears to die, and we see all that ice on the Niagara River, they could start a new colony of polar bears right there in Niagara Falls.
I’m sure the bears would find some type of food in the vicinity compatible with their need for raw blubbery flesh. Climate Scientists step to the head of the line for a close look see at the cuddly bears. Save the climate and by all means Save Da Bears !
Actually melting ice does cause freezing. That is how ice cream was made by Chinese before electrically refrigeration was invented. Add salt to ice packed round your bowl of cream and the ice melts causing the cream mixture to freeze. This still leaves the puzzle of who is adding huge truck loads of salt to the fresh-water-ice at the pole.
The blooming chinese are adding the salt down there using the disguise as a japanese whaling fleet! I might try making ice cream this way to see how it goes.
So what flavor is Antarctica?

Rats! Too bad there was no way to know you were in the neighborhood. We’re only 40 minutes from there!
I grew up there in the 1960’s. Back then it was a nice place to take a date on the cheap in the spring. Looked a littlle chilly for snuggling in the bushes on Goat Island when you were there, Steve.
What would be a interesting proxy would be the number of says the Lady of the Mist boats were out of the water due to ice ?
Awesome photos.
Meanwhile spring started here in Cali about 6 weeks ago… and I live at 8000ft. I am actually kind of puzzled why it is not all over the news, you think it would make for great propaganda.
