DC blossoms should peak in about three days, tying for the latest peak bloom on record.

“1913 - 1920: Workmen continued planting Yoshino trees around the Tidal Basin. The cherry trees of the other eleven varieties and the remaining Yoshino trees were planted in East Potomac Park.
1927: April 16, the original planting of Japanese cherry trees was commemorated by a re-enactment of the event by Washington school children.
1934: The District of Columbia Commissioners sponsored a three-day celebration.
1935: The first “Cherry Blossom Festival” was sponsored jointly by many civic groups and became an annual event in subsequent years.”

It would be interesting to see what the peak dates looked like in the thirties.
We can fuss all we want about gun control but nothing is more clear than this. I hope you put this at the top of the blog for a few days as a reminder to everyone who visits this site what the gun grabbers really want.

This a MUST see video. Very compelling and says all that needs to be said in this matter (IMHO).

I think the latest peak bloom on record is April 18, 1958.
Steven … I know this is going to sound like I’m prioritizing your time … BUT ….
It sure would be interesting to see how March temperatures and peak bloom dates are correlated. I’m guessing that there might be other factors at play here. Perhaps 100 year old trees tend to reach peak bloom at an earlier date than 30 year old trees.

More blistering heat for CO
Yes, it is starting now …..
With current warm spell, peak bloom is forecast for 4/9. The latest bloom in 20 years is hardly a sign of catastrophic warming. Neither is the current Colorado blizzard.
They just announced that today we have reached peak bloom status
