The mass of multi-year ice has continued to move away from the Fram Strait, and into the Beaufort Sea. This causes the ice to become more concentrated, thicker and become more difficult to melt during the summer.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

AO being negative stops it moving out the Framm straight and I guess the gyre moves it that way so good point. Will have more work to do melting this section in the next few months. As you know last year it melted well so it would be nice to see a contrast on how it does this year. Can you keep a note on this?
Thanks for pointing it out.
Andy
Keep the August Arctic cyclones at bay and we will have a healthy ice pack this year.
