The release of proposed new national science standards, including the emphasis of manmade climate change, will alter the classroom landscape for millions of students in the United States, as well as for at least one education publisher readying for the “major” undertaking.
The Next Generation Science Standards, which were released Tuesday after development by 26 states and several national scientific organizations, recommend that educators for the first time identify climate change as a core concept and stress the relationship between that change and human activity.
“Human activities, such as the release of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels, are major factors in the current rise in Earth’s mean surface temperature (global warming),” according to the elementary school standards

This is happening just as the consensus finally admits that the atmosphere is not warming.
Apparently, the rigorous demands of the scientific method will no longer be taught nor applied. The search for objective truth will be perverted and subsumed to political ideology. We are going back to the the days when Galileo and Copernicus fought the dogma of the Church, only now it’s the state.

What Galileo and Copernicus didn’t realize was that if you normalize and adjust, homogenize, and average the mean value of movement of the sun around the earth then the Pope was correct.
I suspect they are already prepping the 2nd edition of NGSS. That edition will state that human activities are the major factors for climate change, be it warming or cooling.

Government schools are notorious centers of lower learning. So this most recent effort to brainwash the inmates, oops, “students,” should come as no surprise.
Obviously, the bureaucrats pushing these new “standards” have failed to notice that the earth hasn’t warmed in the last 16 years, and that the impact of CO2, human or natural, on global temperature is so small it is not even measurable.
The earth may be on the cusp of another Little Ice Age, so the global warming scare will take its place alongside other crackpot beliefs such as Phlogiston and Lysenkoism. A few hold-out scientists (we know who they are) will undoubtedly cling to their fictitious theory as long as there’s headlines to be made and grant money to be bilked from taxpayers.
The Phlogiston Theory wasn’t a crackpot belief. It was very reasonable given what was known at the time. What it really is (in historical perspective) is a nice demonstration of how hard it is to establish what’s actually going on – out at the interface. I.e. the real world doesn’t come neatly packaged and labeled. Thanks to the great success of the scientific enterprise, many people have forgotten this. That’s one part of the background to this whole AGW mess.
I assume that those standards have met the approval of both Pravda and the Daily Worker.
How about teaching critical thinking skills as a “core concept?”
And we wonder why our educational system ranks so poorly. This is just one reason. The professional progressive liberal socialist educators control the system.
I don’t have time to check right now, but this is likely part of the “Common Core” curriculum that is being forced on the states. Evil stuff that can be stopped by your state legislatures. Act now or suffer the consequences.
