BBC News – Esa’s Cryosat mission observes continuing Arctic winter ice decline

Wait until they see next year’s map!  Most of the Beaufort Sea is already full of thick ice, and winter is just starting. The Arctic is about to get very ugly for alarmists.

    As Mark Twain would say:
Rumors about the death of Arctic sea ice are greatly exaggerated.

    Thanks Steve.

The loony lefties that control the BBC are losing its credibility as fast as Obama is losing his.

  4. Don says:

Here’s a true believer. The guy is so full of himself. He claims the target year for an ice free Arctic is 2030 or beyond.

Saw the article at work but couldn’t find a BBC comments page. That Jonathon Amos is a &^*ck. Mind you the BBC that hates the west and bankers yet gave their luvvy big bias guns fantastic severance deals in the millions ; feel that way about climate and Amos was just singing from their hymn sheet.

It is so sickening though to behold? They are determined to distort the world on license payers money into their left wing bitter minority group viewpoint , until the bitter end and that will come.

  6. Robertv says:

Next year’s map is of no importance if We The People lose the battle against Big Government.

  7. Scott says:

So there is still ice present in a place where Cryosat said there was only <1 m ice in March/April? Don't buy that thickness value in the slightest.

    • Isn’t Cryo-sat still in the calibration stages? A few years ago it showed the ice as being far thicker than any of the other info sources. And alarmsts were then quick to point out that it was still in it’s teething stages. So, are we now seeing real useable data? Or is that 2011 graphic still an overestimate?

Bit like GISS’s temp data but (in the reverse) thicken the past data and shave-thin the present years data.

I wonder where the relevant papers about the calibratrion process have been published?

(Also, as an aside, where the hell is the Arcit-ROOS data now – just when it’s needed.)

  8. tom0mason says:

And here is the European news that the BBC did not report.
A man called Nigel Farage calls out the EUs fat a$$ bosses as unelected control freak communists – or something like that. He also shows them that the ice on the Arctic has not all disappeared. Full marks to Nigel…

  9. Aurora Svant says:

Isn’t that sea ice, west of Ireland ?

  10. Brian D says:

This years pack configuration is very similar to 2005.

Will be truly interesting to see how next year’s pack holds up and the kind of weather patterns that will emerge.

  11. Anthony S says:

If nothing else, the maps in the BBC article showed very clearly the export of the thick MYI out of the Artic basin, where it has no chance of not melting. I believe this has been one of your main points Steven.

  12. Greg Burton says:

But, you’ll still have to pay your global governance carbon (icicle) tax to Al Gore’s totally tax-free, off-shore multinational corporation!

  13. hp says:

Gosh, I wonder if the upcoming super cold winter might have had something to do with the Brits deciding to throw OBarnum under the bus as per Syria?
You know, natural gas from Russia might be compromised by “terrists” or something..
When people are sitting there freezing their ass off, it tends to promote clear thinking about why and who.
The politico snakes in the grass can just burn money to keep warm.

  14. It is I only says:

It divert the attention for BBC (British Buggering Children) from Saville & Co at the BBC!

  15. Sean South says:

Interesting then how the Chinese have just gone over the Artic in a boat. http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-09-12/china/42007715_1_sea-route-arctic-ocean-new-route

The maps you display also demonstrate the ice thinning over time… Not sure i get this.

  16. i CAN TELL YOU GUYS THAT HERE IN SOUTH AFRICA, IT IS GETTING COLDER EVERY WINTER, SO HOW THE ICE MELT… I DO NOT REALLY CARE BUT I THINK THAT THIS GLOBAL WARMING THING IS A TOTAL HOAX.
