  1. ACR says:

Could you please be more precise in your criticism of Drudge? The headline seems fine to me. Chinese authorities have defined the windspeed of a “super typhoon”, and Usagi reportedly crossed that threshold. Since I don’t follow Pacific storms, I can’t speak as to whether the Chinese have a tendency to exaggerate wind speeds like the NHC does.

  2. kbray in california says:

It is nice to see that there are no sacred cows on this blog.
Anybody’s headline, Drudge or otherwise, needs to be backed up facts to be bulletproof from criticism.

  3. Billy Liar says:

Meanwhile … all quiet at the NHC.

  4. ACR says:

Now that Usagi’s windspeeds have been downgraded to 135 m.p.h., Drudge no longer uses the term “Super Typhoon”.

  5. Karl W. Braun says:

This storm was not so big as far as super typhoons go. I once saw a picture taken in Catanduanes, Philippines, in the aftermath of just such a storm, where all that remained of the coconut palms were stumps only a foot high. That event took place in 1970.

  7. Dave G says:

As often as the Phillipines gets hit with Typhoons, they should be at the fron of the line asking for some “climate change”
