Kerry Reaches A Deal With Russia

Syria pretends to get rid of their chemical weapons, Obama takes credit for it, UN discussions begin to condemn US support of the “rebels” – and Russia has cover to help Iran speed up their nuclear weapons program.

Kerry and Obama make Neville Chamberlain look like a brilliant strategist. Can you imagine what Putin says about Obama in private?

    Putin goes “meow, meow”

    Obama goes “squeak, squeak”

    Assad goes “ha, ha, ha”

The Rope-a-Dope Game. They know how to play and they have a raw amateur to play with.

Surely there is a silver lining in there somewhere. We are avoiding war and making a decent effort of dealing with the chemical weapons. Why are you guys always, always so cynical?

  3. phodges says:

Medvedev played Chaim Berlin. Putin plays Churchill- against the AngloAmerican New World Order. And Iran does not have or want a nuclear weapons program.

Have you learned nothing from this Syria fiasco?

  4. Eric Barnes says:

Obama tries to whore out the US Military to his Saudi Arabian friends and fumbles the ball to the Russians who are made to look like heroes. Could he do any worse without intentionally trying to?

  5. So Steve are you pro bombing Syria or not?

I think it’s very unfair to compare Obama to Chamberlain. There’s no reason to believe that attacking Hitler earlier would have led to faster victory for the UK, nor for that matter is it likely to have led to victory at all.

Most likely an early declaration of war would have encouraged the UK to move more troops onto the continent, but then they would have just settled into a World War I style “sit in trenches” type campaign, and they would probably have lost France much the same way at any rate. France was not lost because of insufficient troops nor lack of fortification… it was lost because of a fast encirclement attack that none of the Western military leaders had considered. With his attention on the West, Hitler might not have made the fatal blunder of attacking the Soviet Union and splitting his forces across two fronts. If Russia and Germany had been able to hold together a genuine alliance, it would have been a very different story in Europe.

More than that, the British air advantage did not exist in 1938, consider that the Supermarine Spitfire mk II only achieved mass production in late 1939 to early 1940, and this was the pivotal weapon that proved superior to the German aircraft.

Other factors in Chamberlain’s favour was the poor harvest of 1940, and the German shortage of oil, both of which meant that the extra delay before fighting relatively weakened Germany against the UK.
