Average annual precip in Seattle is less than 39 inches. So I’d say you’re getting spanked.

  3. Streetcred says:

Sorry for the people, but GAIA is pissed with them !

  4. R. de Haan says:

It’s on the news in Europe and they just can’t say that this is a normal event. It’s rare to have this kind of rain so late in the season and so much rain and people died.
Don’t you get sick and tired of the lot….

  5. Andy Oz says:

Colorado floods made the nightly news here in Australia. Looks remarkably similar to the flash flooding in Toowoomba Queensland some two years ago. They had 16 inches in less than 24 hours then and it wiped many small towns off the map literally.
Stay safe and good luck. I don’t envy the emergency services boys or the clean up.

  6. SMS says:

NCAR sits well above the city. Shame. It would only be fair if they were getting the full experience down along the creek they claimed would be going dry due to the drought conditions.

  7. Caleb says:

I’m glad you can send us first hand accounts. Stay off the bike trails!

  8. ACR says:

I read the precip chart to show a little more than 7 inches (not 11 inches) of rain in the past 24 hours. It also appears to me that 11 inches of rain have fallen in the past 41 hours (not 24 hours).

Global Warming Droughts are hard on the plumbing.

  10. @NJSnowFan says:

The flooding in Colorado I feel a all natural event and anyone who comes out and says it is caused by AGW or climate change is a groundhog.
The canyons in the western states have been formed by this type of flooding over millions of years. There has to be a geologist that has valley sentiment core samples of the area in Colorado. I bet they show that this type of event happens on average every 100 to 500 years

I do feel bad for the people why lost property/lives to the flooding. Living in a valley DRAINAGE are is like building a home on the beach.
