According to GISS, NOAA, and CRU, the 1970’s were much warmer than the 1920’s. Yet we know that the Arctic was rapidly melting in the 1920’s and was rapidly freezing in the 1970’s.
According to global warming theory, the Arctic amplifies warming or cooling, and in fact Arctic temperatures dominate the GISS and Had-Crut v4 temperature record. That makes the claimed relative positioning of the 1920’s and 1970’s temperatures impossible.

Early in the 1970s, a series of adverse climatic anomalies occurred. …. The world’s snow and ice cover increased by 10-15%.
The IPCC said that the Arctic was freezing up in the 1970’s. The graph below is from the 1990 IPCC report, and shows Arctic sea ice satellite data which is conveniently omitted from NSIDC graphs that start at the 1979 peak.

The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas about Spitsbergen and the eastern Arctic, all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard-of high temperatures in that part of the earth’s surface.
Many old landmarks are so changed as to be unrecognizable- Where formerly great masses of ice were found, there ore now often moraines, accumulations of earth and stones. At many points where glaciers formerly extended far into the sea they have entirely disappeared.
The change in temperature, says Captain Ingebrigtsen, has also brought about great change in the flora and fauna of the Arctic. This summer he sought for white fish in Spitsbergen waters. Formerly great shoals of them were found there. This year he saw none, although he visited all the old fishing grounds.
There were few seal in Spitsbergen waters this year, the catch being far under the average. This, however, did not surprise the captain- He pointed out that formerly the waters about Spitsbergen held an even summer temperature of about 3 Celsius; this year recorded temperatures up to 15, and last winter the ocean did not freeze over even on the north coast of Spitsbergen.
This meltdown continued until the early 1950’s. By 1947, the Arctic had warmed ten degrees and was melting “catastrophically.”

What this tells us is that the published temperature record is a complete fraud. The 1970’s must been the colder than the 1920’s, as the National Academy of Sciences reported in 1975.
The National Academy of Science also reported the 1970’s cold.
Over the last 30 years, various government agencies have doctored the temperature record to elevate the 1970’s to be warmer than the 1920’s. This is patently false, and impossible. The freezing point of water has not changed.
Steven, we are awakening to a harsh reality that none of us wants to admit.

Why do you have a label that says IPCC satellites?
Also, “they” will just argue that one graph is global temperature and the other is northern hemisphere, although it is true they also spout the polar amplification meme all the time.
The IPCC graph shows pre-1979 satellite measurements which NSIDC pretends don’t exist.
Both hemispheres are dominated by ENSO, and as a result always trend in the same direction.
Exactly Steve. The Nimbus program by NASA/NOAA has been collecting sea ice data for both poles since 1965. Starting in 1972 with the launch of Nimbus 5, excellent data has been collected on sea ice concentrations up until late 1978 with the launch of NASA’s Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) satellite. Their bullshit excuse for excluding the Nimbus data is that the technologies and technique is different so they only include the SMMR satellite data and start their graphs from 1979, which coincidentally is a peak year for sea ice concentrations. Remember who you are dealing with Steve, Their motto is a parody of the OJ Simpson Trial “If the data don’t fit, you must omit”
Funny, they seem to be ok with mixing apples and oranges when it comes to the ARGO floats and new satellite instruments over the last 5-10 years.

The wise men of climate science have stroked their beards and proclaimed the recent warming and melting to be unprecedented. And since unprecedented means never done or known before, we couldn’t have had all that melting in the first half of the 20th century, therefore the temperature records, photographs, personal observations and other records must be incorrect. Winston Smith is still fully employed correcting historical errors.
Everyone knows that before 1979, heat made ice melt (except when it didn’t). And they changed the name to ‘climate change’ because regardless of temperature, CO2 causes ice to melt, seas to rise, poley bears to drown, drought-floods, more and less snow, rapes, war, debt, Republicans, bad hair days…
GISS have published their global and hemispheric temperature anomalies for September, which includes a SH anomaly figure of 0.85c, which as far as I can tell is the highest on record and about 0.38c higher than NOAA after adjustment to the same base period.

I assume this is a mistake but if it is indicative of how things are going in October, it suggests a very high global anomaly.

The ocean temperatures displayed on the map are mostly outside the regions of sea ice formation.
Also, they are anomalies, so the actual ocean temperature could still be cold enough for the formation of ice.
The fact that the ocean temperature anomaly in a particular location may be above average, doesn’t make it “hot”.
Finally, the actual figures for sea ice speak for themselves.
Those aren’t ocean temperatures and they are also wrong.

What I do not like is that the hysteria has now reached the point that every natural disaster is assumed specifically to be the consequence of global warming,. I mean climate change.
In the case of the Australian bush fires both Al Gore and some busy body from the EU climate panel were able to tell us this was climate change in action and specifically, it seemed the Australians deserved it, from a pompous precious woman called Figeures or something from EU Climate panel.
