The Deafening Silence Continues

Last year was marked by hysterics about a record Arctic sea ice melt down, a completely fake record Greenland meltdown, and a fake record hot year in the US. We were told that this was all proof the Earth was doomed.

This year, we hear nothing about any of those topics, and they have moved on to bush fires in Australia.

  1. Bill says:

They had to move to Australia as there was no Russian heat wave this year either.

  2. Bob Greene says:

Nobel prize winners were predicting ice free Arctic by 2012, or sometime since the last prediction moved the 5 years to 30-50 years in the future, so we need to move on to the next disaster. The Arctic is an old, stale disaster. It must rest and refresh to be a useful disaster. Besides, the sea ice extent is below the 1979-2000 average, so that must mean something, er, well, significant, I think.

They are busy trying to figure out how to quietly sabotage satellites.

Thank you, Steven, for reminding us of the daily workings of the United States government’s propaganda machine.

Do you remember when we were told how this worked in the old USSR?

Now we get to observe it first-hand.

If Ronald Reagan had not told us the “Evil Empire is gone” in 1990, we might have thought the USSR won the Cold War.

  5. Ernest Bush says:

I have an honest question here. Has anyone looked to see if there were other events coinciding with that sudden change in melting ice in July? It looks like something flipped a switch not identified yet and suddenly (relatively speaking) unusual cold weather events are happening all over the globe. That is as long as we have good records, which is a pretty short time in the scheme of things.

Ernst, I wish I could tell you where I saw this, but:

On another blog, no idea which one, it was noted that something switched over around 2005 (?), and that the Arctic ice was going thru massive swings in extent- but within a set range. In that same article, the author also noted this past July’s event, and figured whatever had happened, it had just switched back over. His opinion is that Arctic ice will begin climbing again.

    • Olaf Koenders says:

I’m sure it has more to do with Arctic storms and ocean currents.

  6. We did have a lot of really hot October days. Right now, it’s a typical cool October day again.
