They don’t need to beat Germany, just lose by a smaller spread than Portugal did. Ghana will probably beat Portugal anyway, and put the US through.
You’re right. Still, Jurgen Klinsman is going to want to beat his old national team. And the US could tip Germany out if they did beat them, which would be karma for the bloody Prima Donna’s. Spain, Germany and England not making the 16 would be excellent for world soccer.
