[Update : NCDC has restored access]
The National Climatic Data Center has bragged for years about how they provide open access to the raw US and global temperature data. But as of today they have changed their name and blocked access to the data.
As of today, they require a username and password.
Apparently they are unhappy about being caught data tampering and committing fraud. Blocking access will make it easier for them to step up their fraud in the future. All of my temperature analysis is based on this no longer accessible data.
We knew it was just a matter of time before they did this. Today is May Day – the official communist workers day of celebration.
“…Temperature rises faltered, so the data was altered,
The pseudo-scientists must protect their illusion,
Their political masters demand warming disasters,
Misinformation abounds in profusion….”

Definitive evidence that the climate fraud has been unsuccessful and cover up is required to protect the fraudsters. Now that the Pope is onside, all Christians are required to believe in Global Warming. It’s a sad day when villains in government succeed, like they did on November 22, 1963 or today with NOAA.
… Except that the Pope doesn’t speak for all Christians. He is the head of the Catholic denomination only.
Thank you for recognizing Kennedy’s assassination on 22 Nov 1963 as a major turning point in the history of this country.
It appears that John’s father, Joseph Kennedy, and a family friend, Senator Joseph McCarthy, realized that Stalin emerged victorious from WWII to unite nations (UN) and national academies of science (NAS) on 24 Oct 1945 into a tool to rule the world by deception.
Kennedy’s Apollo Space Program blocked USSR’s plans to dominate the world from space.
Omanuel….Dude: we get it. Your dogged determination to get your message across is duly noted. One by-product of all dogs is deposited on the ground. I am tired of finding your dog **** on every unrelated post on this site. Keep your dog off of Tony’s yard.

Most non-Catholic Christians do not believe in CAGW and there are a lot of us out there. So don’t be quick to generalize about Christians. In the U.S. about 55 percent of us were Catholic in the past, but that is an old statistic. My Catholic friends are horrified about some of the recent pronouncements coming out of the Pope’s mouth. He is going to damage the Catholic Church with his communist inspired comments as time goes by. He will split the Church into factions over time whether that is his goal or not.
These graphs were generated by an alarmist named Randy Olson, based upon a UT Energy Poll, and he was surprised at the resuts…
http://www.randalolson.com/wp-content/uploads/climate_change_religiosity.png
The more religious a person is, the more likely they are to deny climate change. Whereas 80% of atheists accept climate change, only 56% of all very religious Americans agree.
Not surprising to me, everyone must believe in something.
http://www.randalolson.com/wp-content/uploads/climate_change_income.png
Surprisingly, income and educational attainment have no effect whatsoever on whether someone accepts that climate change is occurring or not: The “Yes” answers float around 70% regardless of whether the poll respondent brings in $20,000 or $200,000 a year. This finding seems to hint that knowledge has very little to do with whether someone accepts climate change nowadays.
http://www.randalolson.com/wp-content/uploads/climate_change_
It is religion for some, and agenda for many. The alarmists most assuredly have the forty-seven percenters, regardless of the science or truth.
Yep, I can see it and agree.

So again, Yep, I can see it.
And agree!
What is slightly and moderately religious?
Exactly!
“Definitive evidence that the climate fraud has been unsuccessful and cover up is required to protect the fraudsters.”
It isn’t. It wasn’t. There is plenty of fraud, no doubt, and Tony is great at ferreting it out and exposing it clearly and concisely. But this time he jumped the gun, and everyone piling on just makes our side look stupid. IMO, this entire post should be deleted.
No, it should stand, they should explain why some can access and some can’t, or is it targeting.
[sigh]
Yeah, but that doesn’t fix the problem if no one knows there was one.
Is there anyone we can contact in an effort to get this corrupt policy reversed?
I’ve asked them for a username.
Interesting to see what their reply will be!
Thanks, Paul, for pushing for access to data produced with public funds.
The LIES won’t stop if we accept the right of federal agencies to hide data produced with public funds.
Try just clicking Cancel and see what happens.
Now that is weird because that just worked a few minutes ago and now it doesn’t
It appears to depend on how you try and go in to the site, using Stev’s link I can press cancel and still do things.
Trying to go in directly using this ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/v3/
Does not.
Just at there is a major enquiry being setup in the UK to investigate temperature adjustments….
WOW!
I’m surprised they didn’t cut off access earlier…
Get ready for MORE manipulated data… and “Officially Released” datasets which show massive warming… all the Alarmists and Huff Po idiots can point to the fake data and say “see” … there IS Climate Change/Disruption !!
That’s due to the discrepancy, between raw Data & tampered Data becoming harder to hide, with the CAGW Premise and IPCC Predictions, diverging further & further from reality…
Once data has been adjusted, it is no longer data, it is an artifact of analysis.
The grantologists point to artifacts, and claim it as ‘data’. It is not.
da·ta ?dad?,?d?d?/ noun

Actually, you’re making sense Gator ; I was giving them way too much credibility.
I’m thinking it’s just a technical glitch. Just tried and did not get prompted for a login.
Or maybe they’re just blocking you. 🙂
Spare us the nonsense, please. It isn’t helpful and wastes everyone’s time.
ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/daily
Hate to tell you, right now CST 10:00am I have access all the coop ghcn daily and other with no user name prompt including the link you provided!
You seem to have missed the multiple comments and update at the top stating that the problem has been resolved.
Dah ha ha … they must be tweaking you Steven !!!
Interesting. I tried the link and got a “Connection reset” error. I then went to another site unrelated to CAGW and tried the link again and got the login box. Now, when I try the link from here at Tony’s again, sometimes I get the “connection reset” error” and sometimes get the login box…
I really, really hope that they are not permanently cutting off access to the raw data (assuming it really is raw). Even more I hope they don’t change the data and still present it as the original raw. The CAGW enthusiasts remind more and more of Golum. Crazy, certainly, but you still hope that somewhere deep down there is a level of deceit which even they will not stoop to.
Of course now, even if they do restore data access, there will be the chore of verifying that they have not changed it in the meantime.
Communists have never had a limit to their level of deceit. They will kill people by the millions if they have to. Think Viet Namese “re-education” camps.
Looks like the NCDC is opening a re-education camp.
Steven, I clicked on your link and it said ‘YOU ARE FORBIDDEN TO USE THIS SITE’.
To be exact: the top of the page notes that it is the NOAA site.
It then says exactly:
YOU DON’T HAVE PERMISSION TO OPEN THIS PAGE
you don’t have permission to view ‘daily’
This specifically denies you access to the daily data. Wow. I think we should sue.
If you’re in a normal State, contacting your Senators and your Congresscritter might be of some help.
I would do it, but in my state it would be a complete waste of time.
Good luck.
They are definitely having server issues. I really like your work here, in fact donated again last night. Please, give it a day before jumping to conclusions.
Do a FOIL application for the whole data set. If they are being truly nefarious this will tell; they won’t give it to you, they’ll say that you can only get on particularly defined part with each request. Then its time for the lawsuits.
He who controls the past controls the present; (forget the future, it ain’t here yet.)
How long before carbonated drinks are banned by the FDA?? Adding pollution to
our drinks must be bad. It’s about control; remember the communist principle on
trusting people to do what is best for them. ” TRUST IS GOOD, CONTROL IS
BETTER, ABSOLUTE CONTROL IS BEST OF ALL.”
I thought logging in as anonymous might work. Nope. They have anonymous FTP disabled. Its a shame that they have decided to provide data only to people they feel are in the need to know. This is just an extension of Obama’s most transparent government ever.
The link below is still available, but it says it’s data are only through 2013, and I don’t know how these files compare to Steve’s link. http://cdiac.ornl.gov/ftp/ushcn_daily/
That is useless. The point is to get current data.
I got current data.
Not unless you are living in August, 2014
He found a flux capacitor and a 1.21 gigawatts battery
The USHCN data on the page below has not been updated since August 2014 either.
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/temp-and-precip/national-temperature-index/time-series?datasets%5B%5D=uscrn&datasets%5B%5D=cmbushcn¶meter=anom-tavg&time_scale=p12&begyear=2005&endyear=2015&month=5
Perhaps they are arguing about if they should continue to adjust it to match the new USCRN stations, or allow Gavin to adjust it to diverge upwards like he has with the GHCN data that goes into GISS and other temperature fabrications.
login: anonymous

Prehaps this is due to the UK GWPF launching a major analysis of global temperatures ?
I was wondering about the same thing. It may be a case of “with the idea of data fraud being spoken about, maybe it is a good idea to limit casual access”.
My thoughts exactly.
The Hope Forjohncleese Pledge:
“I will vote for any candidate from any party who calls the global warming scare a hoax. I will give money to any candidate who promises to cut funding for NCDC, NOAA, and GISS. I will volunteer my time to any candidate who will prosecute government “scientists” guilty of fraud.”
Time to remind them of their own policy …
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/about/open-access-climate-data-policy.pdf
“The basic tenet of physical climate data management at NOAA is full and open data access. All raw
physical climate data available from NOAA’s various climate observing systems as well as the output
data from state-of-the-science climate models are openly available in as timely a manner as possible. ”
From ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/daily/ I am currently being allowed to slowly download ghcnd_all.tar.gz. (Estimating about 40 minutes for 2.5 GB)
My download is complete. Bob Koss says he got a reply from NOAA that the problem has been fixed.
They seem to be back up allowing access.
Maybe they have been getting hacked.
Tried ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/v3/ a while ago and got the sign in prompt. Just tried it now and went right through to the page.
Got Webpage Not Available.
And I got …

I suggest you use a different browser. The fact that you cannot access it now does not prove anything unless you had been able to access it successfully before. The site is an FTP site and not all browsers are prepared to deal with that.
I put Tony’s URL
ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/daily
in a different window in firefox and got no log in required. I picked
ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/daily/by_year/
and that went to.
ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ghcn/daily/by_year/2015.csv.gz
I did not try to open it.
Just received a reply from NOAA saying the problem has been fixed and no sign in is required.
Cheers Steve for keeping the climacrats on their toes and helping to ensure data is freely available to date.
And importantly for sorting through the data, over many years, showing us the often huge discrepancies between ‘measured’ (raw) and ‘reported’ (adjusted) data.
TQ 🙂
I can give you raw data. I’m old and have lived in the same Northeast city my whole life It’s the same crappy climate we’ve always had.
Quite a lot of sites will automatically trigger a temporary block if accessed too often or too rapidly from the same IP address. I noticed a while back that Steve’s scripts were scanning over each station ID code in a loop which could be the sort of thing that triggers the blocker (I’m guessing of course).
You might find the site is more friendly towards pulling a whole year as a *.gz file, rather than looping through each station ID. Just throwing a suggestion out there.

The polar vortex is strong, because the ice grows quickly.
The high magnetic activity of the sun does not cause temperature fluctuations in the stratosphere over the polar circle. Of course, there is also no pressure peaks.

The solar wind was strong, and therefore decreased galactic radiation. GCR now growing again.

Thanks, ren, for reminding us of variations in the “cosmic ray” flux.
We know a significant portion of the “cosmic rays” come from the Sun.
Iron meteorites formed near the Sun’s pulsar core and have had much higher exposure to “cosmic rays” than the stone meteorites that formed further away from the Sun’s pulsar core.
The circulation in the lower stratosphere shows a strong cooling of the North Atlantic.

You guys do not seem to realize that the changes you are seeing are totally meaningless. It ain’t gonna warm and it ain’t gonna cool in you lifetimes. Do a bit of maths. man has been around maybe 10,000 years at most (not as a 2 legged monkey). You and I live max 100 years you are not going to see anything interesting in your lifetime re climate (that’s why it was made that way) DUHHHH LOL
Why don’t you get back to us, when there are more 100 degree days experienced in the USA than there were in 1936 or the 40’s.
You keep ignoring the fact that climate change can be ABRUPT!
………………………
Richard B. Alley of the U.Penn. was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, chaired the National Research Council on Abrupt Climate Change. for well over a decade and in 1999 was invited to testify about climate change by Vice President Al Gore. In 2002, the NAS (alley chair) published a book “Abrupt Climate Change:
Abrupt Climate Change: Inevitable Surprises (2002)
Authors
Committee on Abrupt Climate Change; Ocean Studies Board; Polar Research Board; Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate; Division on Earth and Life Studies; National Research Council
. From the opening paragraph in the executive summary:
The switch from the Eemain interglacial into the Wisconsin age was punctuated by LEAP (Late Eemian Aridity Pulse)
Gail-
You beat me to it. In charts of the past half million years or so, what really stands out is the stability of the Holocene, particularly when compared to previous interglacial periods. Rather than unprecedented, the current rate of temperature change appears to be unusually low.
We have been blessed with a very steady climate. That is why the CAGW nonsense is so idiotic.

Anyway I agree with SG there is no doubt that the Government will eventually block access to the raw data
Good for everyone forcing NOAA to fix its web site! Shows that we can put their feet to the fire sometimes.
Nonsense, they’re just messing with us. They probably think it’s hilarious that they can so easily get a reaction.
If they really perceived us as a threat, there are many additional measures they would take to strengthen their position.
They certainly don’t have any reason to be concerned about the present Congress, or the current crop of presidential candidates!
If we really want to make a change in carbon policy, we have got to get our act together; that means much more than just using blogs and other media, and high-ticket conferences. It means a serious, organized, grass-roots political campaign.
Anyone here have any experience with that, besides me? No one else whose comments I’ve read here gives any indication of it.
Such a campaign, of course, would imply that we have to actually meet each other in person. But there seems to be an allergy to that around here.
If that doesn’t change, and soon, it’s totally hopeless. And we will get exactly what we deserve.
All indications I’ve seen convince me that none of you who write here regularly (or at least, those who are American) want the problem solved, if it would require anything more than you’re already doing. That attitude will be the death of this movement, if you allow it to continue.
Writing to your congresscreatures is not going to solve the problem. Writing to NASA and NOAA is not going to solve the problem. Additional blogging and doing interviews is not going to solve the problem. Additional research that refutes theirs is not going to solve problem. Moreover, all of these things combined are not going to solve the problem. If any reader thinks any of these things, then they still do not understand this enemy at all. None of these things necessarily hurts, but by themselves they are a waste of time. They are not the ingredients of a successful political movement. They are only the prelude to a successful political movement. They don’t apply pressure to the same degree as a large, organized political movement does.
The greatest problem I see here is that the great majority of those who know the truth do not really care whether anything changes. I have long been someone who looks at actions rather than words (when I have both to look at), and you all seem not to comprehend that your actions speak louder than the loudest amplified sound. And the people we oppose, being political creatures, hear those actions loud and clear. It was true in 1998/99 with the Reform Party, and it’s true today with the Tea Party and with libertarians.
The closest thing I’ve seen to people understanding what I’m talking about has been the folks who have inquired about lawsuits. I’ve tried to explain why that’s impossible without support from the Congress. But even those commenters, the vast majority are from Canada, Britain and Australia. And, while I’m sure their ideas are much appreciated, they also reveal a (not too surprising) innocence about just how controlled the federal judiciary is today. So it seems we’re going into a political war with two groups, a totally politically ignorant group who, far from being ignorant of their ignorance, is actually proud of it, and a moderately more aware group who seems to understand the need for something more, has some experience with it … and are not Americans.
Could the political situation possibly be worse? Yes, but I think, not by much. What we face on our own side, is a historic amount, not just of dysfunction, but of apathy concerning the dysfunction. And these two things come from where? Well, that answer should come as no great surprise: from Leftism, which many of us have been letting into our own lives and thoughts for decades now, to the enemy’s continuing delight. Fostering dysfunctional thoughts and practices is the absolute specialty of this enemy!
I saw some asinine thing the other day about some libertarians trying to convince everyone that anyone who is not libertarian is a “statist”. If any of you expect to win a political fight with that kind of approach, I think you may have blown a fuse, or several of them. Again, we will all get what we’ve earned with our efforts. Tony has earned a lot on this particular front. The rest of us should be running to catch and just for the slow learners around here, I ALREADY SPECIFIED NOT BY BLOGGING!!
Richard,
I share many of your concerns.
Who is capable of organizing a serious, organized, grass-roots political campaign?
Please expand on this comment. If modern churches were not so attune to political correctness, they might lead the campaign to restore integrity to government.
Is the answer a natural merger of science and spirituality?
The best available measurements and observations by physical scientists seem compatible with the religious teachings of benevolent Higher Power that created and sustains every atom, life and world in the solar system:

Wow , that’s throwing the cat among the pigeons ( as we say in Britain and Australia ).
Obviously the intent is to shake the status & standing to action against CAGW fraud
and more needs to be done for sure,,, but what will it take ; a Civil War ?
…
Looking from outside of the United States; In some ways, it appears Americans can be their own worst enemies or in effect ; enemies unto their systematic Governance…
It may seem naive to many, that this could happen to one of the greatest Nations on
Earth ; but it’s a sad, regressive reality, when compared with what America once was!
…
The United States appears to be the only Country that’s ramping up CAGW initiatives
with a President acting like its Prophet ; I know of no other leader so totally absorbed.
At the other extreme, places like Australia, have gone the other way with CAGW.
…
Americans can take inspiration ; but the challenge is beyond my shores…
The thing is Americans are as far as I can see, are the dominant force. But the romans were too at one point in history. And people worder why there is a roman catholic church with a pope in charge and follow with out question. And then why there are how many splits from that? It’s Bullshit. they learned it was better to control than to perscute, it was more profitible to do it. Constantine made himself the pope.
Ya know, the power, prestige and money part, that was the prestige part that no one wants to listen to. The power and money comes and goes but the prestige lives on for ever. PPM!
Me says, “”The thing is Americans are as far as I can see, are the dominant force””.
Today & for some time to come, I hope so but now it’s mostly as a military power.
…
Before we consider the Romans… Don’t forget the British Empire was the biggest by far taking in a quarter of the World’s land and a fifth of its people. The Roman Empire for
instance began before Christianity & Rome only adopted the faith in the final decades.
…
Britain became the Worldpower by the 16th Century and it was King Henry VIII that succeeded from the Catholic Church & became the head of the Church Of England.
Not just because ” the Pope would not allow a divorce ” but also because Britain was
not prepared to be influenced by Rome, hence the split that led to Protestantism.
…
Religion, power, money, & control interrelate ; but the IPCC mostly want the Vatican
on side as a tactic to legitimise their doctrine & propaganda. Interesting your mention
of how Religion controls ; for many, CAGW has become a Religious CONviction.
Marsh, ya shown what ya are. 😉
Yeah , you’re probably right “Me” I gave too many clues away. At the same time I want to see the US return to full strength ; I have connections there too…
Stay with it man, It’s good.
I don’t have a hate on for christians. But the shit they do, and if anyone thinks that is bad look at the middle east, it is fubar. But reality has to sink in somewhere. and That as whatever you want to paint it as. I no longer want any part of.
But, you already know that.
You can make a difference, you know, you can’t say you don’t. but it’s up to you.
I have some idea “Me” ; I’d say you’ve had Military service & seen bad stuff… I take your point and you probably have good cause for your position. Then again, I’m not a devout anything, except I hate injustice… that’s why I blog here .
Then is should’t be a problem?
Again it is up to you.
I really don’t care at this point, you make it or breake it, That is what a skeptic is. so tell Me a story?
I’m waiting?
So I can now write you off as a Liberal peice of crap, thar Marsh, like Lou the pastor? or are you someone different? 😉
I’ll check back later…. Maybe…..
There’s plenty here with a better story than mine.
I have to head out anyway………
Ok Marsh, I’ll look foreward to it and Maybe next time you may have a story to tell us. Is that good for you? because I don’t know, someone may not be here next time to hear it. Who knows Marsh you could be talking to yourself, or Me? 😆
( Me says) of my,, You must have been writing with Jim Bean or his mate Jack Daniel’s over that time,,, & perhaps Budweiser paid a visit going on that Nonsense last weekend?
Wow! All caps and bold!
“I ALREADY SPECIFIED NOT BY BLOGGING!!
Talk about blowing a fuse! 😆
(nice rant)
There may have to be a contingency for access in the future, involving a 3rd party or an alias account; given the industry trends.

Looks like Robbie the Robot is running the website for NOAA. 🙂
How do you find a copy of the Raw data and a copy of the current adjusted data? I’ve gone to the site in your link, but can only download “Samples,” which are incomplete datasets. Is there an easy way to get these two sets into an Excel format?
