There is a chicken and egg situation here, higher economic growth where families have more money in their pockets enables more stable households.

Odd demographic that we have protesting the wrong issues again, and again.
A woman has six kids, no father in the home. Her child is out throwing rocks at police. She beats him in front of the camera and the media asks “is she mom of the year?”
Maybe the mom of the year should be the one who doesn’t raise kids out of wedlock, has children who are respectful of police, and disciplines her child in a way that doesn’t promote the kind of violence that is ripping the community apart.

Trying and failing. Likely she was also raised in an environment absent a good role model. What kind of mom uses that kind of language and violence on their own kids? All my parents had to do was shame me, that was worse than any beating they could give.
The mom’s I used to see do this were actually more concerned about having the police show up at their door. I worked in E St Louis for years, and witnessed first hand what goes on in communities like that.
Just two days ago, one of the “local” news channels in the city showed a street interview with a black woman from a similar neighborhood. The woman talked a good talk for about 30 seconds, saying that the blacks need to stop the street violence and quit blaming the cops. Then her peers, who had been standing around, attacked her for saying that. The woman then requested that her earlier statement be erased, and when the news crew refused, she harrassed them and called them a whole lot of bleeps. To their credit, the news crew aired the entire incident, and said they would not be returning to that area without bodyguards.
It is likely that the cost to society for supporting those kids is very high. Also it is likely that having these children was a financially expedient decision.
In neighborhoods like that the more intelligent people need to have two different distinct personalities. One is for the outside world. The other is for the neighborhood. If the people in the neighborhood see the outside world personality they will go on the offensive against the person. If the outside world sees the neighborhood personality that will negatively impact one’s success in life. It’s a tightrope to walk. The news crew should have understood this.

The reality is that the police are required to enforce thousands of crimes against the state. Any “illegal” activity that does not have a victim by definition is a crime against the state. A large part of these “crimes” are revenue producers for the government, so the police have become tax collectors rather than protect and serve. The progressive’s axiom of blaming Bush needs to be updated.
So lets get all the facts straight here:
Freddie Gray, who has a substantial criminal record (20 drug related arrests), was arrested for fleeing from police after acting suspicious. He was beaten by the arresting officers (perhaps resisting, perhaps not). He was placed inside a paddy-waggon (without being strapped in) and apparently suffered catastrophic injuries and was thus taken to a hospital where he remained in a coma for a week before dying. And that is pretty much all we know about that.
Riots occur throughout Baltimore and New York and Denver and Chicago and Minneapolis and elsewhere. Numerous cops were injured and cop cars burned. Vast numbers of private businesses and automobiles were destroyed.
Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announces charges will be filed agains the 6 police officers involved in the case:
1) Officer Caesar Goodson, Jr. = second degree depraved heart murder, involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, manslaughter by vehicle, manslaughter by vehicle, and misconduct in office.
2) Officer William Porter = Involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, and misconduct in office.
3) Lt. Brian Rice = Involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second degree assault, manslaughter by vehicle, two counts of misconduct in office, and false imprisonment.
4) Officer Edward Nero = Two counts of second degree assault, manslaughter by vehicle, two counts of misconduct in office, and false imprisonment.
5) Officer Garrett Miller = Two counts of second degree assault, two counts of misconduct in office, and false imprisonment.
6) Sgt. Alicia White = Involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, and misconduct.
Three of the officers are black = Caesar Goodson, William Porter, and Alicia White.
That is pretty much all the “facts” about this case I can find… did I miss anything?
Now, I am no lawyer and obviously I nor pretty much anyone else has seen all the facts and I will not profess to knowing everything about this case nor about the law, but there are some serious problems here with this whole thing. Here are the problematic points I don’t understand:
1) Why did the riots occur at all? Clearly, with three of the officers being black, there is nothing racist about this matter (or can a black person be racist against another black person?). So why were they rioting?
2) How can all of the officers be charged with assault and manslaughter and all the other stuff if all that happened was man was arrested (perhaps resisting, perhaps not) and suffered severe injuries in transport and later died. I’m sorry but that does not scream murder to me… it sounds like negligence at worst. What am I missing?
3) Marilyn Mosby, at least to me, acted very racially motivated when she announced the charges agains the accused officers. Additionally, there appear to be links between Ms. Mosby and Feddie Gray’s family via donations she received from the attorney. Shouldn’t she recuse herself from the case?

The media has to do what it takes to distract people from the fact that the problem is government and a police state. The media also has to work to divide people along various lines so they can be more easily ruled. The people don’t want to admit the reality of what we live under so they just believe it all happens to those other people over there because of racism. And there you have it. Why what gets press and attention and why what doesn’t. Why darker skinned people are portrayed as white. People need a narrative to stick to, illusions to believe in, because the reality is too scary and goes against everything they’ve been told since they were four years old.
