Experts say that it will be record cold, and getting milder.
Britain braced for mini-ice age as temperatures are set to drop to a 300-year low
Low temperatures not seen for 300 years could be on the way to Britain thanks to a drop in solar activity, experts have warned.
If you were enjoying the current warm spell, enjoy it while it lasts as forecasters have warned that the UK could enter a mini-ice age.
A Met Office-led study in conjunction with scientists at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Reading, found that a return to low solar activity not seen for centuries could increase the chances of cold winters in Europe and eastern parts of the United States.
But the study, which was published in the Nature Communications journal, added that the freeze will not be enough to halt global warming.
Sarah Ineson, a Met Office scientist and lead author of the study said: “This research shows that the regional impacts of a grand solar minimum are likely to be larger than the global effect, but it’s still nowhere near big enough to override the expected global warming trend due to man-made change.
“This means that even if we were to see a return to levels of solar activity not seen since the Maunder Minimum, our winters would likely still be getting milder overall.”
Britain braced for mini-ice age as temperatures are set to drop to a 300-year low – BT
Lysankoism at it’s finest, logic and science be damned.
This can be a worse than they think, because only AMO will reduce the temperature by about 0.4 degrees C. In turn PDO in the Pacific is entering a phase positive.

Regional impact of grand solar minimum? or Nature’s total loss of scientific sense?
Indeed Gail, “Low temperatures not seen for 300 years could be on the way to Britain thanks to a drop in solar activity, experts have warned., but the sun will only cool Britain.
Do we wrote about the cooling of the North Atlantic?
The decrease AMO?
Here in the eastern/central US, our last two winters have been brutal, record to near record cold, with record freeze up of the Great Lakes and record late freeze up of the Potomac River in DC. Not exactly “milder” winters!
In low sun, it is important magnetic field of the earth, because it modifies the galactic radiation.

Thank you, ren, for continuing reminders of Earth’s magnetic fields. Two comments:
1. They are surely connected to the powerful magnetic field of the Sun’s pulsar core.
2. Some fraction of galactic radiation may be cosmic rays from the Sun’s pulsar core.
Iron meteorites that formed closer to the pulsar received a much higher dose of cosmic rays than did stone meteorites that formed further away from the pulsar.
Leaders of the New World Order are going down fast and are both desperate and dangerous.
Thanks to a few brave investigative reporters like Tony Heller, the modern Wizard of Oz has been exposed as a complete fraud, fabricated from the ruins of WWII as nations and national academies of science were united (UN and NAS) into an “Orwellian Ministry of Consensus Science Truths” on 24 OCT 1945 to save the world from nuclear annihilation by forbidding public knowledge of NEUTRON REPULSION – the source of energy in cores of
_ a.) Atoms heavier than ~150 amu
_ b.) Some planets like, Jupiter
_ c.) Ordinary stars like the Sun
_ d.) Galaxies like the Milky Way
_ e.) The now expanding Cosmos . . .
. . . as compacted electron/proton pairs (neutrons) decay into expanded electron/proton pairs (hydrogen atoms).
Today the survival of humanity is threatened and society will return to the DARK AGES, or re-establish contact with REALITY; TRUTH; GOD; UNIVERSE:
1, We all live exactly 1 AU (one astronomical unit) from the pulsar that made our chemical elements, birthed the solar system five billion years (5 Ga) ago, sustained the origin and evolution of life on Earth after ~3.8 Ga ago, and has dominant control over every atom, life and planet in the solar system today [“Solar Energy,” Adv. Astron. (submitted 1 Sept 2104; published privately 17 Mar 2015)]: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10640850/Solar_Energy.pdf
2. Society must merge scientific and spiritual insights into a Higher Level of Evolution, as Nobel Laureate Max Planck explained the planetary matter (planets, asteroids, moons, comets, rubble) that orbits the Sun’s pulsar core in his 1944 speech in Florence, Italy:
“As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about the atoms this much: There is no matter as such ! All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together . . . We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter.”

spam spam. bueno.
This is just like the end of the global cooling scam!
As it failed, they searched around and eventually started saying “but CO2 could explain the lack of predicted cooling”. Then when they got a period of natural warming they jumped on the CO2 warming bandwagon and we are where we are.
Now with the pause they are struggling to explain it – and not they are trying to excuse their failure to predict the pause by suggesting that solar explains. And if (as seems likely) we get a period of natural cooling – we will undoubtedly see a return to the global cooling scare.
You have it right. They will do anything to hide the fact that they themselves are totally powerless over the forces that control the Earth and its climate.
“This research shows that the regional impacts of a grand solar minimum are likely to be larger than the global effect,”
Kinda like saying its hotter at the tropics than the poles – what gobbledygook these people speak.
Yes, we know that the tropics have a better regulated temperature.
Do they want to re-invent the wheel as well !
Its sooooo hilarious that they were saying the Sun did not cause the slight warming during the latter part of last century, despite what has been called a Grand Solar Maximum, …
… and NOW that want to blame the dip in the Sun’s output for the cooling that is starting.
“This study shows that the sun isn’t going to save us from global warming,”
Isn’t the Sun basically responsible for almost all warming on Earth ?? Aren’t climate scientists always telling us about “frigid space” ??
How can the Sun “save us from global warming” when it is the most powerful “heater” for billions of miles ?
These people forget to put what little brain they have into gear before opening their mouth to make ridiculous pronouncements.
They have extremely valuable brains, totally protected from use.
In the academic world we thought only deans has this talent..
Reblogged this on Centinel2012 and commented:
Reactionary science just like a bunch of cats or dogs running in circles trying to catch their tails. These idiots will chase anything that bring them government study money. All they need to know is what the result need to be to get the funing.
Ok, some of you scientists help a simple truck driver/mechanic out here.
There are two common types of gas heating systems used to heat places where there is a large square footage of space with concrete floors and high ceilings. The Forced draft, like many of us have in our homes, heats air that is then blown out into the spaces to be heated. The Gas IR on the other hand heats the objects in the building and conduction/convection then transfers that heat to the air. Often in both systems ceiling fans are used to keep forcing the warm air down. The forced draft will make a person feel the warmth quicker but once the IR system heats the objects in the building it is much more efficient and provides for much more even heat through out the building.
Anyway, lets say a swimming pool covers 71% of the floor space. Which system will heat the water in that pool more quickly and efficiently?
The IR right?
The fastest and most efficient method to heat a pool of water is by conduction.
If you take out that option, leaving forced-air conduction or radiation, both are extremely slow and inefficient by comparison to the conduction route. Which method is slower and more inefficient depends first and foremost on the details of the system, including the volume of water to be heated, what’s underneath that water, how large the room is, what the energy source is in each of the two options, and of course many other factors .
But before getting deep into it, I’d wonder why conduction is not an option .
Correction, “forced-air convection”.
the visible to extreme UV is what heats water the best.

https://i2.wp.com/www.klimaatfraude.info/images/sverdrup.gif
I understand that Gail. For the same reason why UV also gives our bodies, who’s content is closest to sea water, a sun burn.
But I’m still trying to figure out other dynamics and thought perhaps engineers or scientists or well informed laymen that study, research, or work with thermodynamics could provide some insight.
The 71% area of the swimming pool was used because that is the approximate area water covers on our globe.
I have heard time and again that one cannot heat water efficiently with a blow drier. Well Forced draft heating is like a blow dryer but it also warms the other matter around it through conduction. While the gas IR works primarily by heating the matter around it and not the air. So which one will warm the pool quicker in a building as described? And why?
rah, Sounds like a good experiment to run.
As Richard said conduction works well and as I noted direct radiation by higher wavelengths. IR will penetrate the surface and if you have mixing (wind, wave, blow drier…) you will get some heating. You also will get conduction at the air/water surface.
So for a home experiment you could try.
1. Sun tanning light SEE: http://www.wolffsystem.com/sunlampswork.html
2. IR lamp used to keep chicks/lams/kids warm SEE: http://www.petmountain.com/searchx/0/0/1/1/?s=infrared+lamp
or
http://www.andersonthermal.com/t3-and-t4-infrared-shortwave-lamps/
If you try to match the watts of the two lamps.
3. The blow drier
4. Repeat with a metal pie plate (no holes) floating on the water.
The thermometer has to be sheltered from exposure to the heating devices.
But the warm mongers aren’t even saying that a blow drier is heating the water. They’re saying that deep water is pulling energy directly out of relatively stagnant air, with which it’s already in dynamic thermal equilibrium, at a rate sufficient to offset the lack of observed warming in the air, and without altering that equilibrium. And it’s doing it without altering the temperature of the upper levels of the water. Laws of Thermodynamics be damned, they have a theory to rescue.
Ted, in other words, a demonic, monstrous beast squatting at the bottom of the sea, called the Missing Heat, with huge sharp teeth, tormented eyes, and an axe to grind with all who don’t bow to the warmists’ false gods, and which somehow has the power to jump up at a moment’s notice, unload its pent-up anger onto the climate, and disappear back to its origin, doing all of this so quickly that even the most advanced electronic thermometers at the surface cannot capture its fleeting presence?
Yes, that’s pretty close to what they actually are claiming now.
Mind you, I don’t think they actually believe that any more, and some of them never did! But they’ll keep trying to sell it anyway, as long as they have nothing else that matches with people’s experience of the weather.
Morgan,
I stand corrected. Thanks
…………….
Andy,
Thanks for that graph on sound sources. I was looking for that information for another reason. Nw I know why I could not get a straight answer. (pun intended)
Hey, its usually you providing all the information. Glad to be of assistance. 🙂
Audio and sound is a hobby of mine. 🙂
Andy,
That is what is so great about these forums. There is so much pooled knowledge about all sorts of different subjects. Steve’s site is great because he doesn’t mind if we head off on a tangent at times.
I should add shorter wavelength = more energy
Not all photons are equal and long wavelengths have much lower energy. This is another part of the scam.

Consider Microwave Ovens
This information on microwave ovens has two interesting points.
The first is the “The microwave radiation would be expected to drop off according to the inverse square law, so at 20 inches it would be down by about a factor of 100.” Now add that to the chart of energy vs wavelength and IR starts looking like a 20 pound weakling.
The second interesting point is “The average thermal energy at 20°C is about 1/40 eV, so any ordered rotational motion created by the microwave interaction is quickly randomized by collisions with molecules of kinetic energy 2500 times greater than the microwave photon energy provided. So the net result of microwave interaction in microwave ovens is to heat the material in the oven.”
This is independent confirmation of what Dr Robert Brown and Gallopingcamel (also a physicist) and Dr. Happer said. In the troposphere the IR photon is going to heat the atmosphere via collison. CO2 is not going to start re-radiating until 11 kilometers up. Dr. Happer mentioned in his lecture, experimental data shows barely any radiation at 11 KM and that radiating is in the stratosphere ~ 47 KM above the surface.
Dr Happer’s information is illustrated by this image the Warmists use to say ozone is a greenhouse gas. The Figure is from Uherek, 2006. They even say it “show how carbon dioxide is cooling the stratosphere.” The black dotted line is the tropopause and you can see water is dumping energy just under the tropopause (the pink splotches surrounded by dark blue) while CO2 is dumping energy from just above the tropopause and up (the big yellow streak on the left) just as Dr. Happer, Dr Brown and the Camel stated. Ozone is the smaller yellow streak on the right.
The legend with the illustration:
What is NOT mentions is where CO2 is active and that is NOT in the troposphere
Gail, you made a mistake when you said:
“The first is the “The microwave radiation would be expected to drop off according to the inverse square law, so at 20 inches it would be down by about a factor of 100.” Now add that to the chart of energy vs wavelength and IR starts looking like a 20 pound weakling”
The inverse square law only applies to point sources, not to extended sources. For example, a light bulb’s light decreases by the inverse square law, but a 48 inch fluorescent tube’s light does not. You can move 2 feet or 4 feet from the tube and the light does not start becoming dimmer until you move far enough away so the tube starts acting like a point source. In the case of IR radiating from the surface of the Earth, it could be considered an extended source thousands of miles across. Moving away from the surface does not decrease the IR by the inverse square law.
the sound guys have line sources pretty well sussed out.
-3dB is taken as a halving of spl.
http://lds-co.se/products/img/distace.gif
nb. reference for chart is 100dB at 1m.
A short line source starts off along the line source line, and ends up somewhere between line and point source. Its complicated for sound, because it also depends on frequency, that’s why big concerts always use long line arrays to reach the back of the crowd with a 3dB drop-off, but curve the bottom backward a bit to catch the front of the crowd with a 6dB drop-off

Trace gas CO2 controlling Earth’s climate is like
trace planet Pluto controlling the Solar System.
Good one. Yes, Pluto has an effect on the Solar System – just not much. In fact, so little it most likely cannot even be measured. Kind of like the tiny effect the minute trace of CO2 in our atmosphere has on climate.
The government decided a few years ago that Pluto is a dwarf planet like a big asteroid. Are they Ceres?
Actually it was the Astronomers and physicists of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) which designated Pluto as a Dwarf Planet in 2006. Several other Pluto like dwarf planets have been discovered further out over the years but Pluto is the nearest and actually during part of it’s orbit is closer to the sun than Neptune.
Pluto is the nearest? Are you Ceres?
A new age of lunacy is now dawning,
When cooling is still global warming,
The logic is clear,
‘Man-made’ is still here,
And to pseudo-science it’s still conforming.
http://rhymeafterrhyme.net/mother-nature-is-laughing-shes-having-such-fun-to-see-just-how-gullible-weve-all-become/
So, a reduction in solar activity will make it colder…but won’t make it colder due to global warming????? HAHAHAHA.
They are barking mad! Britain will be, like Canada and the Great Lakes/Eastern seaboard parts of North America, buried in snow and ice and extremely cold if the sun goes quiet. Already it has been cooling down significantly in these places.
And yes, this happens mainly and mostly in these specific parts of the planet…But then this is exactly where all Ice Ages begin. Not on the equator.
despite the mild winter in scotland late spring /early summer showed very little increase in temps. sea surface temps are similar to march (no matter what the met office says) and we are still running the heating some days in the house.
with the uk being a temperate zone on the end of prevailing winds from the atlantic, we should be seeing an increase in temps if the oceans were indeed hiding the heat,we are not. in fact summer temps have been nowhere near record levels for a very long time now.
If the irony wasn’t intentional it should have been; asking if the readers have been enjoying the warm spell!? How could they? The readers have been subject to decades of mental abuse having been made to repent for their faux sin of consumption.
